Great stuff. Yeah, Ben was on borrowed time ever since he
left Clem to die, opting to run away from her at the start of episode 4.
I was done with saving him. However I did replay the decision at the end of the 4th episode,
I let the zombie catch him and bite him, neglecting to save him, but it felt wrong choosing not to pull him up in the clock tower. If you let go he breaks his legs/survives the fall and dies screaming, as Kenny saw/approved of what you did.
He means well but he's made too many big mistakes that put everyone at risk.

Just brace yourself, the 5th episode is the shortest of them all. It's still great though. Give yourself time to just sit with the game when you've finished to reflect on it. Definitely stick around for the credits as well.
Yeah, when Kenny mentioned about not having enough room on the boat for everyone, he was my pick for being left behind after the way he left Clem with the walkers. Then when he took out the hatchet and accidentally let the walkers in, I voted him out of the group. And yet part of me still wants to save him (even though he hasn't done one thing to deserve it). I don't mind if I save him and Kenny votes him out and we abandon him, but leaving him to certain death just doesn't feel right for the way I'm playing.

I'm not too fussed about Episode 5 being short, especially if I have to replay the end of Episode 4 again (not sure how the rewind thing works or how far back it'll bring me). The last few nights, I've finished an episode and then had to go straight to sleep. Hard to sleep then with so much to think about.

Haha, I want to do that too next time. Just be an absolute prick to Clem and Kenny. Right now, it's like I'm Daryl and Kenny is Rick. Next time, I'm going to be Merle :D

Finished it last night. Holy sh*t. What a game.
When I played it Wednesday night, I accidentally dropped Ben. Kenny agreed to help come find Clem because I'd always sided with him. Last night, I went back and saved Ben, and this time Kenny said he'd been keeping score and I was against him more times than I was with him, so he didn't come. Didn't realise I was on such shaky ground with Kenny. I always tried to side with him except in cases where I'd try to be diplomatic. Glad I saved Ben though. He had a really great moment in Episode 5, as did Kenny because of it.

And when the walkie-talkie guy was listing off the bad things I'd done, he didn't actually have a lot on me, so I think I played through pretty well.

But man, Clem damn near broke my heart in the ending of the game. From her muffled crying when putting the walker guts on her, to seeing her parents as walkers, and then the whole finale with Lee... Oh man. I really hope when there's a Season 2 of games that we find out the two figures Clem saw were Omid and Crista.

This game grabs you by the balls and the heart at the same time and doesn't let go of either. One of the greatest gaming experiences I've ever had.

Can we talk Fringe in here then? Since it ended for good last night :(

    Loved the finale myself,
a lot of throwbacks to it's past and the scene between Walter and Astrid made me melt.
I'll miss it, particularly my weekly dose of John Noble being completely amazing.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,602 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

    Really enjoyed it.

The only slightly irksome thing was they played it safe. The Walter ending was obvious early on and it didn't take much risks in terms of producing a memorable ending.

But it produced a nice ending, one that will make everyone happy. The ending of
Walter stepping through the portal with the boy was a great bookend imo; he started everything by walking a boy though a portal for selfish reasons and saves the world by walking a boy through a portal for selfless reasons.

Really sad to see it go. :(

With my monitor & graphics card out of commission, I got Netflix on the PS3. My goodness, US Netflix is just awesome - Punk's docu is up on it! Same with the nWo DVD and a lot of 2012 DVD releases. Been milling the Prison Break out of it (although that's on both)

I'm about a third into S3 now. S1 was v well made but it felt like at some point 1/2 way thru the season they got renewed and stretched out the plot. The ending was a giant middle finger but I didn't mind since I could roll straight into S2. There's a couple of dodgy "lets go back" bits but overall it's a great show. I do like how they progress things and learn a bit about inmate society and bartering etc. Quite like the cast and it paints Lori from Walking Dead much better. Theodore is great. I like link as well. Everyone except his son, stoner douche who gets into trouble all the time! Bellik is great too. Brutally crass and honest about his selfish goals. Definitely recommend since it's all there immediately to watch. Would be one of the greatest shows if they condensed the season into 12 eps instead of stretching it.

T Bag is a great character alright but to be honest they should have ended it after 2 seasons.

Sorry to dredge this up. Halfway through S3 now, am feeling a bit of that but alright it's not as engaging as before but it's still very good. I like how the best characters from the previous season make it somehow into the next season. And that deep down they're all motivated by love for another. That sounds soppy but it's the most believable and relatable.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Microsoft Word doesn't know the word relatable?! Lol.

Anyway I wish I could read the 'dirtsheets' for the show to see why some of the bigger plot decisions happened. One particular about a box that Link gets!

Combination of actress being pregnant, suited the story (motivation for Lincoln & Michael) and contract dispute (happened due to the writer's strike). If they wanted her back they would have had to pay her for 22 episodes even though the season was only going to be 13 episodes long and they were going to kill her off anyway so there wasn't any point bringing her pregnant ass back (and finding ways not to show she's pregnant) for 10-13 episodes and paying her for 22

While I also think Prison Break should have ended after Season 2, Season 3 is still pretty enjoyable. Gretchen is a fantastic character

Prison Break could have been one of the great TV shows if they had done something like 2 series of maybe 10 shows and condensed the storyline into that timeframe. As jay says they seemed to have a great idea and plot but then halfway through got an extension or something and the whole thing got annoyingly diluted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,013 ✭✭✭✭jaykhunter

Thanks Penn. Didn't realise S3 was only half a season, finished it there. Felt that although it wasn't as strong as S1-2 it was still very good.

    Thoughts on S3 :
T-Bag is still the man. The season ending with him being king of SONA served as a fitting end to his character : having a woman who cares for him, access to money and drugs, fear (some love) and respect, I'd be happy at that end. Bellik had a rough time, seeing him scrounge around almost naked and shaking was pretty sad. Great to see him get some respect/admiration/fleeting happiness winning that one fight. "Chuck Norris? He wouldn't have passed basic training". :p

I thought being only half a season really helped, I was very done with SONA when they did. Gretchin (so gorgeous!)/The Company dropped a bomb on us that she might not have killed Sara after all - that's bollocks, she was a big emotional point in the season, now you're telling us people don't really die in the show, sucker! How Michael was able to manipulate Gretchin to get the hand off in the museum was extremely clever, and things look up for Link with Sofia. Overall I was quite pleased.

Watched the first ep of S4. Wow, I imagine there was ALL KINDS of outrage when the episode aired. Awful slap-dashed stuff :( They knew where they were at the end of S3, knew where they wanted to be at the end of the episode, and someone said 'get from A to B' in 40 minutes! Jaysus
(In one episode, SONA's burnt down : T-Bag out, penniless, looking for revenge on Michael FFS! Sucre and Bellik also out, on board with the good guys. Link & Michael successfully caught (!) and now working for the FBI. Sara resolved, reunited and recruited! Gunned down stragglers from S3 (I bet they're not really dead, yas bastards) and also Mahone's family so he's on board too)
    That's Russo-riffic!

As much as I loved season 3, the thing that irked me most were the two scenes when Linc was staring at Sofia on the beach, and then when he offers to take her to Paris.

This guy's teenage kid has been kidnapped and on the brink of being murdered, and he's thinking about getting his willy wet.

Jay you're not wrong about Gretchen being gorgeous, check her out in an early episode of Two and a Half Men, she be half naked covered with tattoo's :D

Watching some more S4 of Prison Break. Claims that this is the worst season and should never have been made are founded and accurate. So many poor/cheap creative decisions.

However I reached that bit with Gretchen on the bed Charisteas - aww yeah. A bit desperate by whoever booked the show but hey I won't say no!

Worth watching S4 for that alright. And some random office girl who has a few scenes with T Bag wasn't bad either

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,013 ✭✭✭✭jaykhunter

ha, yeah wowsers. Why T-Bag would give up that
whilst being king of SONA - given that he's a broken man looking for acceptance, fear and respect makes no sense. As is trusting the scum to drive him northbound, considering they know he's packing a ton of cash. The writers just changed the character and situation to suit S4...
    Boo :(

Yeah, it was very well done.
I actually saw it coming, but then in one mission where the rest of them help you, they all have the Assassins symbol over their heads and on the map, so then I thought "Oh sh*t, I was wrong. They must be Assassins then".

Really? I had no idea. Although,
i assumed that Lionel Richie motha was a Templar when he was sneaking around eavesdropping on the convos. But I think that's what ubisoft wanted me to think..

I don't know what gave me the idea. I just had the feeling that something was up because they weren't talking about stuff (can barely remember now as I haven't played the game since it came out). Not that I would have expected them to be sitting around saying "Hey, you know the way we're Assassins? That's great, isn't it!" but just the way they were very careful with the script made me think something was up. I pretty much just guessed it rather than figuring it out by any clues or anything.

I liked the way Merle was killed off. Trying to make amends and going out a hero. Andrea dying was a shocker as she doesn't die in the comics. I guess that's a good thing, to add to the element of surprise. Loved the season finale. I don't expect The Governor to last too much longer. Be interesting on the other hand to see Carl develop into the little sociopath that he's becoming.

Do you mean the post-credits scene?
where Clem is walking through the field by herself? She sees two people in the distance - which you could take as either a good or bad thing, either Christa and Omid, or new characters (heel or face). Either way when I saw Clem walking by herself I felt a massive wave of guilt that I've left her all alone in this dangerous world. Heartbreaking.

    EXACTLY that!
I felt awful that I did that. Is there anyway to
avoid being bitten at the end of eps 4
or do I have to take it.
    Felt awful that
    Kenny died saving Christa

Re:Getting bitten - There's no way around it. You could either view it as fate coming to get you no matter what you do, but also it's just Telltale needing to close off choices so it cuts down on the workload spiraling out. So like how in ep 1 you choose to help/save Carley or Doug, well Carley or Doug get killed by Lilly no matter what. That huge b!tch! I believe Doug shields Kenny but she point-blank shoots Carley. I did replay the choice with Lilly - either you leave her there or she steals a van and hightails it, so either way she's out of your story.

Definitely some kind of redemption for Kenny for making all of these bad decisions but he lost the most out of everyone. Really annoyed Molly left at the end of ep 4, she was great. Carley too.

If you check this page you can see the status of everyone in the game at the end (alive/dead/?/depends) http://walkingdead.wikia.com/wiki/Video_Game_Characters. Gosh, what a great game!
