I think it might be worth reposting the original instructions in post #1 of this thread:

    Some rules:

Use the post title to say if you want to sell equipment, or are requesting equipment

All info should be in one post, never post the same thing twice. If you need to modify the info then use the EDIT function

Photos of the gear is allowed, but keep the file size small

Never post anything other than what is on sale - this is not a chat thread. Any chat posts will be deleted

Do not advertise the price, this can be requested via PM

ALL TRANSACTIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS FOLLOWING THE INITIAL POST MUST BE CARRIED OUT BY PM ONLY

When the gear is sold please let me know and I'll remove the details so the thread doesn't clog up with old stuff

In addition: As noted above, please do not include phone numbers or email addresses in the post.

The aim of argument, or of discussion, should not be victory, but progress. Joseph Joubert

The ultimate purpose of debate is not to produce consensus. It's to promote critical thinking.

As they have stood the rules for the selling of second-hand equipment have prohibited the mention of selling price.

We are now rescinding that rule to allow ONE mention of price.

Under no conditions is there to be discussion or haggling on the open forum about prices!

Any further price discussion is to be by PM.

    The other conditions still apply.......

Don't suppose anybody happens to have a Hoyt Matrix riser (25") that they no longer have a need for and with which they would like to part?

Seen one down the club last night and it is a really nice riser. Have looked online (Google & Ebay UK/US) but no joy.

So if anybody would like to place one in a loving home, give me a shout.

Not really my area of expertise. (If it was I would be posting in the archery section a bit more (I believe this is my first post so Hello))

Anyway I was prowling around looking at archery sites just before I come into the forum and I was sure I had seen the word Matrix somewhere. I had.

I don't think it is allowed to post links and stuff in here and I don't want to be banned on first post, but I can suggest you look at the site for AIM Archery. It is a UK site so prices are in £ sterling. Hope it is what you were looking for. Good shooting :)

Rubecula, no problems with posting links. I checked that site, the only Matrix I could find was Hoyt Carbon Matrix compound bow and I don't think that is what TommyKnocker is after.

However, I've read recently that the Samick Vision 1 riser was essentially a knock-off of the Hoyt Matrix. While I don't recommend that version of the riser (there were concerns over it's design), the Vision 2 is available and hasn't the problems.

Cheers for the heads up, but if it was as greysides says, a compound matrix, then it would not be what I was after as I shoot recurve. But again thank you for thinking of me.

I ended up with a Hoyt GMX in the end and I am really happy with the choice.

Cheers for the information re the Samick being a knock off, but I have to say I am not really mad about either. One of the club members shoots a version 1 and it is really noisey :( Could be just the way they have it set up, but it would drive me batty. Another has a version 2 and while it sounds much quieter and looks a little like the Matrix I suppose, there is just something about it I don't like, but I am not sure what it is :o

As I said, I ended up with a GMX and really like it. My Matrix fetish was from my first night at the club at the beginner course. Two of the club shooters had the Matrix in dark blue fading to black, similar to the photo of the red one you posted, and I just thought they looked really nice.

The GMX has the same geometry as the Matrix (and my old GM) so you've lost nothing and gained a more modern riser.

Has anyone by any chance got a cheap compound or recurve bow for sale? I'm looking for one to try out the basics and to see if I'll be interested in taking up archery. I know that I would probably be better of joining an archery club and trying from there but would prefer just for now to get a decent bow cheap enough. I would prefer a 30-40lb draw. Thanks

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 9,041 Mod ✭✭✭✭greysides

Dave, a 40# bow is a heavy bow. After 4 years I'm pulling about 40# now but with 36# limbs as I draw past the length the limbs are marked at.
Even 30# is heavy for a beginner, especially if you've a long draw. There is technique involved in how you pull a bow so as to lessen the effect of the weight held and minimise the effect on your joints and muscles, against injury.

Arrows to fly straight need to be matched to the held weight and draw length otherwise they will veer left or right.

    So it's not just straight-forward.

The other thing a beginners course provides is instruction in safety and a safe location to shoot in.

Compound bows are techy things and I'm not familiar with them but I believe they have to be adjusted to your draw length, which would need to be constant.

Either a 'have-a-go' session, a visit to an amusement park that offers archery or a beginners course is what I'd recommend for you to decide if you like archery without too much money being invested.

    1 x Longshot Quiver

I have tonnes of extra bits and pieces such as stands, arrow pullers, knocks, tool etc.

If anyone is interested, please feel free to PM me. I shall try to get some pictures up shortly.

Sorry folks, I never seem to be able to post fotos properly on boards, so here's the link to a bow I'm trying to sell for the brother in law. I don't shoot recurve so I'm not sure what these Yamaha EX bows are like, but this guy usually only goes for top notch gear. I'm open to correction on that so maybe some of the more seasoned members could let me know if this is a decent bit of kit- or not. Thanks.

This bow is a very strong high power bow, it is made up from wood, pig skin and metal. I have two string for the bow because the first one is almost broken plus it comes with a bow bag. There is nothing wrong with this bow, I just need the money now.

This bow is not a toy and should be taken seriously.

I am looking for 230 euro

Looking to buy a second hand bow for a beginner. Was down in the Archery shop in Blessington but he does not do second hand bows.

Got priced on a Avante Samick, Limbs, Button and Sight and it comes to over €250 and I just want to try it to see if I like it so don't want to spend mad money yet. Did a 6 week beginners course with Dublin Archers so may join them.

I am over 6 foot tall and right handed so not sure if there is differences with the limbs sizes

    Anyone selling anything?
