Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I changed over from 1MB Eircom to 8MB Vodafone, and nothing whatsoever
    has changed.
Do Vodafone actually deliver anything close to 8MB to anybody.

    🧐IMHO, God wants us all to ENJOY many,many ice-creams , 🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦

    @dohouch:

You may have done this already but have you called the VF at Home data support people to check that they've actually upgraded your broadand profile to your new download speed limit at their end since you moved provider ? The homepage on your router should also state what speed it's currently limited to.

I was on Eircom 3MB and found out that VF hadn't changed my profile to the 7MB package when I moved. They'll be able to test the line for you when you ring to check what speed your line should be capable of before changing the profile.

Contact details in case you need them:
    Freefone: Landline 1800 927 380, mobile 1907 if you're on VF mobile.

i tested my ping and got an a grade then i was streaming a youtube video about 5 mins long. i tested my ping again and got this.

    2v9x35l.png

immediately after the video finished loading i get these results

    30rkyrl.png

anybody know why streaming 1 video could cause these high pings?

roguey, you'll have a 7 day cooling off period with any contract, I'd suggest you call your provider asap to find out can you cancel without a buyout fee

red represents the packet loss. Like this every evening on Vodafone's 8mb package. Great during the day, just after 6pm its not useable.

When people are posting your speed test can you say where you are located . just the rough area, that will give others a good indication of what the speeds are for certain companies in certain areas

Please tell me how you got this?

Are you glitching speedtest or you really can download at that speed?
If so do you work for UPC or trialing DOCSIS 3.0 or what?

Turn off the firewall on your router and you will not have packet loss.

Weird i've been trying to get UTV to send me my user name and password, to no avail!

Then i think lets do auto on the modem and but in your old(was with them prior to eircom) BT ones. Now seen as i've gone BT, Eircom to UTV i thought no but they worked no problem!

You have to install Java on your PC for the packet loss part of the test to work.

    DONT TURN YOUR FIREWALL OFF!

i tried that. with it on or off , i got slightly better results with firewall on!

you are at risk if u leave it off.

well your not really....NAT protects you from most attacks. NAT closes all ports from the outside inbound unless you have specifically added a rule to allow the traffic through.

  • Registered Users Posts: 189 ✭✭mattman

how many people know about nat!

    but your right!

    anyway..leave fire wall on..
