Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Any plans for the long weekend?

    They're all long weekends now.

Will you read before you go to sleep tonight?

I usually read a bit of poetry.

    Read any good books lately?

A few weeks ago I started reading 'The Mirror and The Light' by Hillary Mantel but my concentration is shot at the moment so I let it drop. I think I need a page turner at the moment.

    Could you recommend one?

Couldn't name a book to save my life right now.

Have you a favourite song of all ?

Couldn't name a book to save my life right now.

Have you a favourite song of all ?

Oh man.. Led Zepp 'Thank You'

The Doors 'When the music's over'

    Korn 'Freak on a Leash'

John Prine 'In spite of ourselves' (duet with Iris Dement). I was thinking of John Prine tonight, first because I love the song and second because a close friend of mine died from Coronavirus virus yeterday (Prince also died of CV-19) recently.

    Bob Dylan 'Hard Rain'

    Wolfe Tones 'The old man'

So many I couldn't pick one.

    Are you drinking tonight?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,050 ✭✭✭Ruby Ring

    No (unless coffee counts)

    What made you smile yesterday?

    I received a pretty compliment

Do you usually wake before the alarm goes off?

Usually wake before the alarm in time to turn it off.
    Old habit

Great choices Maikikomi it's like you were reading from my playlists.
If I had to add one it would be Brother in Arms but your right too many to choose from.
Sorry to hear of your friend. Friend of mine lost his dad to it today too. It's a curse but life continues.

Watching Sas can't remember rest of the title of the program (like hell week) sad to see all the Celebs who think a week of shouting at them will fix them.
How do you respond to shouting?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,497 ✭✭✭auspicious

Well it depends, if I think the person shouting knows what they are talking about or in the right, I'll sit up. Otherwise if they're in the wrong I'll diffuse it diplomatically. It's easy to make some one look the fool but better if they learn a lesson. Of course if I'm in the wrong that's okay too.

Do you think the phrase " I think, therefore I am." has real substance?

No I don’t. But I’ve only considered it for 2 minutes.

Do you think this is a creative hour?

Yeah...I often do my best work at this hour..

It's too late to be drinking tea at this hour though is it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,153 ✭✭✭jimbobaloobob

Good question I was tempted to put on my kettle but think I’ll skip spent 3 hours doing a 20min job were I to have no glitches.

In this instance fortune is luck. It's better to live here than in Palestine or Yemen. Most peeps cannot see beyond thier worldview. We strive for better wellbeing, such is life's undercurrent. We are in damn fine circumstances.

    What do you wish for?

I hope so. I gotta do some weeding. Too much buttercup leaves. I've loads of dandelion too.

I add dandelion leaves to me salad. What do you do that's unconventional?

Probably more OCD than than unconventional, however.

I worked almost solely with morse code for a very long time, and now I often find myself tapping out words from posters, displays etc on my fingers.

If any ever looks at old war movies and wonders what's being said in morse code, its usually random groups of numbers.

    Have you any unusual hobbies?.

I guess Sanskrit chanting might be considered unusual in some parts, I love it.

Have you participated in any competition lately?

    Northern Ireland?

Last time you saw a bonfire?

Yes. I've taught myself to judge behaviours not the whole person. Similar sort of thing..

Ha! :) It's about new life, the end of the dark half of the year. A big deal when we were an agrarian society..

Do you have any Irish? The language

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,328 ✭✭✭Upforthematch

Yeah I do, it's sort of part of me really.

    Are you a good storyteller?

I think so, but perhaps too descriptive.

Are you interested in any area of Philosophy?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,328 ✭✭✭Upforthematch

Yes! Language & epistemology...some day I'll actually get to read up on it.

Other than Leonard Cohen, what songwriters these days are like poets?

That the brain itself does not feel pain but only has receptors to feel pain from other body parts.

    Do you have any tattoos?

    Nope and no piercings either.

Is it unusual for a woman not to have any piercings, not even their ears?

It does seem quiet strange. How do you hang stuff off your ears then.

Were your parents strict or nonconformists?

They go to mass, watch it on tv now and very good living people but not in any way preachy about it.

Do you believe in an afterlife?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,328 ✭✭✭Upforthematch

    Yeah I do

Who are you listening to at the moment music wise?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,497 ✭✭✭auspicious

I did once....rationally I don't, yet I want to, I think. Years of religious ethos is hard to shake. It's subliminal. If I say yes it's much different from the Catholic heaven.

Music. nothing in particular. I like to search YouTube to remember what I liked.( I lost all my bookmarks with new phone)

Do you think humanity's. history of civilisation began much earlier than taught?

When was the last time music surprised you?
