Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I just remembered that Black Books exists a few days ago. Watched some clips on YouTube. Cracker show.

Very trivial, since its a long time before I was born , but reading about Ronnie Delaney’s gold medal in 1956 at the olympics . He was early 20’s and seemingly it had the best 1500m field ever assembled . Good man !

    Ikea…

You can pay 5/6 euros per pint glass to other retailers….Guinness, Heineken, Carlsberg or whatever insignia on them and those designs..

Ikea… 1.20 per glass with nothing on them…. So I just bought 5 earlier. 6 euros vs 30 or so….

I found a Snickers ice cream in my freezer.

I thought I'd eaten all of them in the multi pack 🤗

Saw a guy telling a Concern chugger to "F*CK OFF" in a very loud voice today.

Great to see people standing up to bullies.

When i hear a song from a band I like decades ago. Like 50 [years, not decades !] !!, that haven't heard for a LONG time, but I can still remember the words and the timing. I do not claim to be a good singer, but this is real good for me

Someone doing sudoku puzzles etc on an actual paper on public transport. Also, having access to decent public transport. And public transport when not using it to goto work. 😁

My mother told me a story about my daughter when she was 3 . I use to bring them to a crèche. And then home for dinner . Anyway granny was saying to my daughter why wasn’t she eating her dinner. The answer “ I’ve no fcuking spoon “ 😀😀😀

On hols in the not so sunny south east, boys still asleep, and rain drumming down on the roof of the mobile home, but lying on the couch with a good book, and nowhere to be. Perfect!

Despite it threatening to rain several times today I got a line of towels dried 🤗

I remember as a very young boy digging a couple of holes and putting horse chestnuts in them.

Just doing a bit of gardening there and admiring how they have grown

Unless my eyes (or my screen) deceive me, those aren't horse chestnuts. Sycamores, maybe? Good looking trees, though.

When you're walking along a road and you see up ahead a person/people walking in the opposite direction whom you know and whom you don't want to meet and talk to, e.g. a co-worker, acquaintance, ex-partner, even friends - someone you wish to avoid for whatever reason.

You're anticipating a strained and awkward interaction but it's only when you come closer to them that you realise you're mistaken and it's actually a complete stranger. Such relief! This happened to me earlier today and I almost felt like thanking the stranger in question for not being who I thought they were 😆

Not trivial but was lucky enough to be at the All Ireland final today. Tension. Excitement. And pure joy at the final whistle 😊

My sisters were over today visiting with their small kids and it reminded me - there's few things that make me happier than the sublime silence that comes over the whole house just after they've closed the front door when they leave for home 😄

I was convinced I had the dentist on Thursday but it’s not till the 3rd of September, don’t mind the dentist these days but it’s a bit of a trek and I’m feeling a little tired and ‘can’t be arsed’ vibe this week.

Was on the train yesterday ready to depart and I saw a guy on the other side running for it. He took two massive leaps covering 8 steps up the stairs. It didn't look human like The Beast from Split! Me and another passenger were willing for him to make the train while he ran above us over the bridge and back down the other stairs and made it on just in time 👏🥳 would have started a round of applause had he got into our carriage ☺️

Spotted out of the corner of my eye a group of youngsters pile out of their cars to head to a venue.

They are all beautifully dressed and every one of them is wearing comfortable shoes, there are some lovely posh sneakers out there.

Th that youngsters are released from the tyranny of uncomfortable "dressy" shoes and they are being replaced by something so creative.

I went clay shooting on a stag last weekend and really, really enjoyed it. Got a good insight after striking up chats with the fella who ran it.

I think I may have a new hobby.

my PC was downloading and updating software for about 11 hours. Ok that sucks but the install just got stuck with nothing happening for the last 4 hours or thereabouts …. Can’t sleep so just went to check and finally, it updated, turned on all is operating ok. I was convinced it was knackered but all is ok….

A bill I thought was €30 was showing as 13€ on the account.

So its finally all paid off and I have money to spare, rare these days.

walking down the street. Had to jump to avoid two phone zombies.

A few minutes later, a guy walking towards me pulled out his phone. He stopped, walked to the side of the path thereby getting out of the way of the other pedestrians. Only then did he look at it and dealt with the issue.

After a horrible am, I was sitting in a car in a local shopping centre.

I was facing the planters they put on the paths, about 10 mins of just sitting there watching the bees flitting from heather flower to flower and bush to bush.

It made me so happy to see nature do its thing and that humans facilitated them.

I love "good drying weather" - those warm breezy days where you can hang wet clothes on the line and take them down again fully dry within an hour. Something very satisfying about wearing an item of clothing in the morning and have it washed, dried, and put away again by that evening.
