Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

For anyone wanting to see the dates for shows returning/debuting.
Any suggestions for a better site?

I discovered from that list that "Zombie Tidal Wave" is a thing, from the people who brought us the Sharknado movies.

Also looks like I definitely won't be watching Carnival Row right away. It releases the same day as Dark Crystal

I use TVTime app, for any shows I currently have on my watchlist or profile it will show when they air in my google calendar. Doesn’t show return dates for shows not on your list or new shows though

    Or try http://www.airdates.tv/

Does anyone know we can stream or buy the BBC’s “Dissected - The Incredible Human Hand” and the second episode “Incredible Human Foot”. A stream or digital download is preferable but a DVD would do.

It is is needed for educational purposes and is important.

I had them recorded on the Eir TV box but that had to be replaced recently.

    Cheers

Regarding a song, does anyone know the song of this AIB Mortgages advert? It aired back in 2015.

    Shazam doesn't seem to work.

Did you post the wrong link? There's just a boy going around with a bit of music playing in the background but no song.

LOL, must be my old ears but I can barely hear a couple of smidgeens at a tiny level and almost obliterated by the music :). Catchy tune, though.

Got to watch this, this morning it's 10 year since Patrick Swayze died and this is a documentary made with/by those closest to him.

Recommend it highly if you come across it and have a few tissues ready.

The service hasn't even launched yet, but Disney+ has already cancelled a show:

    https://deadline.com/2019/08/book-of-enchantment-disney-tv-series-disney-villains-not-going-forward-dead-1202701776/

"Book of Enchantment", a series revolving around Disney's more infamous villains, is the target of the canning; it was already in the Writing Room, but execs killed it 'cos .... "as backup scripts started to come in, executives at the streaming platform felt the series was going into a darker direction than anticipated."

Watched the 3 remade lost Dad's Army episodes. I'm a fan of the original series, thought they got the pacing, tone and feel of the remakes pretty well spot on. Glad it's not a precursor to new series and just filling in the gaps though.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Does anyone know why Sky news is freely broadcasted on YouTube but channels like BBC World News and CNN International aren't free?

  • Registered Users Posts: 52 ✭✭1012594711

The BBC seem to want to only let TV licence payers watch, with a few exceptions. Their internet services seem to be only available to licence fee payers. Sky are commercial and want people to see their ads, which they believe will more than pay for the cost, so they don't restrict who can watch

I remember years ago the new TV season in the states used to start late August/early September.
Looks like it's getting later and later, which is a good thing.

Things don't really kick off this year until Monday September 23rd.

Hopefully it means tighter seasons and less gaps than there used to be.

Hi all, you guys seem to know your TV so I wonder where is a good place to post for recommendations on a TV to buy? This thread seemed the most apt, but theres probably somewhere I am meant to post?

I have been using this for 12 years now but it has started giving up the ghost as the blacks are showing up as a pixelated blue blur so some chip inside has died I think:
    https://geizhals.eu/samsung-le32a330-a331495.html

and was relatively happy with it so my requirements are not high. I would go for picture quality over size however so keeping it to the 40" to 46" range maximum. Certainly not smaller than 32" though.

I would like a smart TV this time though which preferably has Netflix built in or ability to install it, and maybe Amazon (have a netflix account, not yet an amazon one but considering it). So far I have been using Netflix over my Chromecast.

And finally I would like it to work on my WIFI with the ability to program in a Proxy so I can use BBC and UTV and so forth. I have a proxy already and use BBC iPlayer from my Firefox browsers on my desktop, so would like to do similar with my TV browser.

Lets say a 500 euro limit or there abouts if justifiable but 300 would be fine. Here are the options with my "must have" filters already selected. Click on "weitere filter anzeigen" to see further filter options. What are the must have filters to use.

Right now this one looks pretty good:

‘Bones’ Stars & EPs’ Stunning $128M Punitive Damages Award Against Fox Punted By Judge In Appeal Hearing

    https://deadline.com/2019/04/bones-profits-ruling-emily-deschanel-david-boreanaz-fox-barry-josephson-damages-disney-1202603676/

‘Bones’ Profit Battle Ends As Fox & Disney Settle With Stars Emily Deschanel, David Boreanaz & EPs
Nearly four years after executive producer Barry Josephson first filed his breach of contract and fraudulent inducement complaint against Fox over millions in alleged lost profits from the long running Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz-led series, the now Disney-owned entity has reached a deal to end the legal battle.

Cloaked in confidentiality, the agreement is said to be a “substantial” payout to the actors, the Kinsella Weitzman Iser Kump & Aldisert LLP repped Josephson and fellow EP and author Kathy Reichs, I hear. The settlement was revealed in dismissal paperwork that Deschanel, Boreanaz and Reichs’ lawyer John Berlinski of Kasowitz Benson Torres LLP filed for both sides in Los Angeles Superior Court this morning asking for “entire action of all parties and all causes of action” to be tossed “with prejudice.”

Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot / Homecoming) apparently helming the latest attempt to reboot Battlestar Galactica:

    No it's the real name.

Clever with the logo, not so clever with the name.

The Peacock is hugely associated with NBC in America in fairness, it has been for several decades.

It's a name with strong association to their existing station branding, it has advantages in a crowded market.

300m Americans understand and know the name and its value the logo and name are over 60 years old starting on tv in the 50's and it is engrained into the American psyche.

It's because the deadline piece said "The new NBCUniversal streaming service that the company said Tuesday would be called Peacock will launch in April 2020", it had seemed to me that there had been a switchover of logo, and at the same time the streaming service launched with the name- but the peacock was there all along! Never noticed it. Showed it to a few guys at work; they knew the NBC logo and also hadn't noticed the peacock. Looked it up on Wikipedia after reading both yere posts and the original logo is clearly a peacock; so the current one is too subtle for many of us over here. (I wonder are there other too-subtle-for-us logos out there?).
It's still sounds silly to me though.:) I suppose if one was to grow up with it as a background name, it'd be natural enough. Still sounds silly to me.:p. Quite like the logo though, now I know it's subtlety.

I checked his Wiki page but there was nothing there. Although I did learn that his brother ran for the UKIP leadership and his other brother is described as a Eurosceptic economist.

I tried "All Rise" this morning (first 20 minutes). Very like "For The People" in tone.
Some of the characters are 2D caricatures (like the sneezy grumpy assistant and the cocky handsome lawyer).

I'll watch the rest tonight and see if the 'case of the week' is interesting enough to warrant another few episodes.
