At last! Somewhere to go on the Northside of Dublin!
    Comedy comes to Howth.

Pull on your laughter boots and get yourself down to the first "House of Fun Comedy Night" at The Stage (Abbey Tavern, Howth).
The brain-child of comedian, Joe Rooney, the House of Fun Comedy Night is a new feature on the Howth social scene from September 2009. Joe will act as MC on the night do some of his wonderful skits and songs, and will introduce some of Ireland’s top comedic talent to town.
As barfly Timmy from "Killinaskully”, Joe has become one of Ireland’s most popular "luadars" and the butt of many of Dan Clancy’s (Pat Shortt) jokes. He is also remembered as the rebel priest, Father Damo, in "Father Ted" who uttered the memorable line, "Who do you prefer, Blur or Oasis?"

Colum Mc Donnell, a hobbit child trapped inside the body of a short Irishman, will be the main act of the evening. Naturally with this sort of outward beauty, he became a comedian so as to mock those less fortunate, with their ample height and lack of body fat. Colum was a finalist in the BBC newcomers and Channel 4's ‘So You think You’re Funny?’, going on to appear all over Ireland including Vicar Street, Electric Picnic, The Kilkenny Cat Laughs and he has just returned from the Edinburgh Festival. He has charmed TV audiences on RTE’s "Podge and Rodge", "The Liffey Laughs" and RTE2’s "The Unbelievable Truth", so with his tales of magpies, trains and sinking ships, you will be sure to laugh your pants off.

House of Fun includes Dubliner Shazwanda, AKA Sharyn Hayden, who is currently a huge hit on the Dublin circuit with her Anti-Recession song, observations and wacky take on life, such as ‘the recession is an excuse for chancers to be even bigger chancers ', hitting home with her audience.

And last but not least, the hilarious Willa White will hit town as part of the night. Willa first came to prominence in RTE’s show, "Joy in The Hood", when Des Bishop ran stand-up workshops in some of the most impoverished areas of Ireland including Ballymun where White is from. Since then, he has gone on to critical success, appearing at festivals and clubs all over the country

This madcap night is a mixture of comedy, music and sketches and will take place on Saturday, 19th September 2009

This is a late show with doors opening at 10.00pm - show 10:45pm - late bar/music till 2am.
Tickets/credit card bookings from The Stage Box Office 01-8322006, 9am-5pm, and at the bar in the Abbey Tavern, Howth from 10.30am -11.30pm. ... Ticket Price €15
    Don't miss it!

    The Doors are at 8:30.

yeh I think it is really important to get a good mix of comedians, we usually get a decent crowd, and there is a good atmosphere in Ansso, so becuase of that lots of good acts like doing the gig...

but it will only stay good if we get people along, so please go and if u enjoy, spread the word.

Also there is an OPEN MIC NIGHT on MONDAY 26th, 8:30 but as u know not the same quality but also lots of fun.

    all the best,
    Aidan

Thanks for the info Aidan. Are there any slots left open at the Open Mic on 26th? Have me first gig on 25th n wouldn't mind getting as much stage time as possible. Apologies if there is a website with details, just didn't find anything on Google. You can PM if passing on numbers etc.

I have to be careful not to advertise stuff but I think I can send you my site details: http://www.aidankillian.com/events/

my contact is on that, aidan@laughoutloud.ie so you can email me.

To be honest I am usually booked up at least 2 month in advance for gigs, unless I get cancellations. I think I can get u on in Nov though, send me details and I will if I can. You should go down though cos often someone does not turn up.

All the best, and no doubt we will meet soon
