Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

That last Outrun one doesn't look too bad to me to be honest.

It's a nice compromise between traditional controls and driving games... and that's a decent steering wheel to boot!

Some very tidy work and collection of 6 games :)

    s-l1600-1.jpg

'So, you are bidding on a one of a kind DIY arcade-like machine, which I built in 5 months in my spare time using a headboard for a bed I acquired. I built around it, attached 2 arcade joysticks, stencilled, painted and am using a monitor inside a custom casing I built. It's kinda modular, I.e. the boards at the bottom, you slot in at the bottom to create the full assembly, but can be removed when you need to put it in a van for collection (transit van is highly recommended, or a van with good head clearance). The boards used at the bottom are MDF, cut to size, varnished and painted to keep the colour theme I had going.'

Note: The underside shows my construction limitations - There are protruding screws (and bolts behind the housing for the monitor). I am making you aware, because I will not take responsibility for any injury caused by misuse or hyperactive children :D. Also made mainly from wood so be aware that as with any wood based stuff, it can set on fire if you're careless with matches and cigarettes. Again, I cannot take responsibility for this. By buying this item, you have agreed to do so at your own risk of these typical dangers (again, I mention this because it's a DIY project I assembled a year ago so is not a retail item, but has been made with some off the shelf parts).
LOL - you have been warned

Can you reassemble it into a bed for when all the ladies come over?

Just behind it, against the door, are the pieces for mounting the head board back where it belongs, just legendary.
I thought too, for a moment, that the screen might rotate, but I think not.

    Oh my lord.

It's from 2001, so you can only hope that it has since caught fire and burned down his whole workshop.

I almost wouldn't believe it other than the fact that the second picture still has a Pony IV plastic bezel around the screen.

It cannot be real.. can it?!
You could rent the control panel out as a bedroom in Dublin these days.

What he said about the original candy cab

"The cabinet itself is ugly as heck however inside it were a number of the goodies I needed to make my cabinet real."

According to a copy of the Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy that fell through a time warp from 100 years from now, he was first to the wall when the revolution came.

Needs more buttons. I'm a member of the MAME Arcade Cabinet Builders page on Facebook.
The crimes commited to some nice cabinets on that page would make a man or woman cry. Little 18" wide cabs with a 20 player control panel ****ed onto the front.

Must have polished the whole thing off while designing that control panel.

Maybe I'm being harsh, the comments on the reddit are very complementary. Just looks like a well crafted mess of an unusable table to me.

In fairness, it will probably work grand, depending on the hardware driving it...
I mean, it's an official control panel and a day-cent display...
If they could throw some panels around it, to hide it's feet of clay, it mightn't be too bad!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,790 ✭✭✭Jack burton

Oh yeah like the bones off it are solid. Good display too, just loving how ****ing blunt it is haha
