A cultured fellow slammed into the back of my motor at a roundabout. He was so enraged by the incident, dashed home to smash his headlights in. Before alerting the insurance company.

In supermarket car park they though i had exited a car parking space a bit quick( I am assuming that was what it was a about ) it was a car with a man and woman in it the woman was driving she followed me out of the car park roaring, shouting, screaming I could see her in my rear view mirror her male companion looked terrified. I pulled over she went to park in front of me but spotted a garda car near by and drove off at an almighty speed still screaming.

    A very frightening incident.

I had another minor incident with a loon who did not want anyone to park in the parking bays either side of his car.

Some lad in a shítbucket of a car broke a red and the girl I was with at the time beeped him as he cut the corner very, very tight as she was moving forward on green.
He called her a cúnt and told her to fcuk off and spat out the window, either thinking he'd get away with it or didn't see me.
As he broker the read the lane he moved into was backed up so I walked around the car to him.
He got out acting the big man, that didn't last long. His buddy never moved from the passenger seat.

Thankfully the car behind saw it all too, said she'd confirm what happened if I wanted to call the police.
Reported it to them to save my own back but never heard any more of it, more out of the fact I'd given him a dig or two.

A guy stopped at a roundabout for a long time, beeped the horn and could see the seatbelt coming off and him getting out of the car. He was not even 5 foot and I couldn't stop laughing and told him to get back in the car before I clipped him around the ear.

Ex of mine reached over and hit the horn while I was trying to deal with a situation. Heated row was had.

Communicate comes last, I was trying to find a gap, had no time for beeping.

Two cars racing each other on the motorway trying to get the upper hand, over taking and cutting each other off. I initially thought it was two people who knew each other messing but then it clearly started to get more aggressive and one did a manoeuvre that almost resulted in the other car crashing into the back a lorry. It ended at that point. I guess the near miss and seriousness of it sunk in.

As I cycle I certainly have. Pretty common for drivers to try and knock you down and close pass. They probably don't even register it as road rage or dangerous.

I have over 50.000 km done on a bike, not once a driver tried to knock me down. Close pass yes, but that would more due to lack of judgement rather doing this on purpose.

Happened back home in Austria a few years ago.
I was in the car with my toddler son and a friend of mine, heading to the next shopping center a few minutes drive away. But in order to get there you need to take a short motorway section, 2 or 3 km and the ramp of the car park is the exit of the motorway, a pretty crazy setup.

Anyway, we left the village, then you have a few km of carriageway and there was a guy tailgating me, I felt pretty uncomfortable and he put quite some pressure on me, especially since it was a windy single lane each direction. Once we reached the motorway he was still right up my ar5e and cut out straight away to the second lane. Now traffic was heavy, he caused cars going 100 breaking down and that whole scenario was short of a mass collision if the other drivers wouldn't have reacted to fast.

My friend got incredibly angry at such stupid behaviour, he was literally foaming and we saw he also headed up the ramp to the shopping center. So we went up, my friend told me to stop the car once I had my ticket, he ran after that guy and have him a bollocking that you've never seen before. On a rooftop carpark in bright sunshine.
That pr1ck started acting all defensive saying he has a dashcam fitted and he has it all on tape how dangerous OUR driving was and he'll go to the police with it.
Which was a load of spoof because at that point dashcams weren't legal due to data protection.

Will never forget an early 20something guy yelling at a middle aged angry SUV driver.

Had a woman try to get me to rear end her, luckily I was alert and swift on the brakes, I had it all on Dashcam so my own ass was covered. Best €40 I ever spent.

Pretty unique among guys not wanting to rear end her. I admire your restraint.

It's happened to me a couple of times in shopping centre car parks. Once I stopped to allow another driver to pull out, the other driver an old man was rather slow at reversing out when a prick behind me starts beeping and shouting all kinds of ****e. I should have ignored him but asked what's his hurry to more aggressive shouting.

Another time I was waiting for a space when a cow pulled in in front of me. I was raging but she just didn't give a fùck.

Plenty of road rage whilst being on busses in Dublin and also on congested footpaths. There are some very angry people out there.

Pretty tame but I got a grin out of it, outside Aldi in Coolock this person thought I didn't pull my trolley close enough to the boot of the car for them to get by. She foamed out the window at me and blew the horn repeatedly. I pulled the trolley to the side of the car and just stared her out of it all the way out the carpark. She crawled up the road, still giving me dirty looks until, when level with my car, I flipped her the bird.Cue an absolute meltdown of roaring and banging the steering wheel and trying to get the passenger window down to roar at me. The car behind beeped at her and I pointed and laughed at her.
Thankfully, the light went green ....... I reckoned she would have ripped my head off if she came back.

I doubt you are cycling in the city because everyone who cycles in work comments about how often it happens. I accept the will be idiots of every kind with poor road skills and that include cyclists.

The question was about road rage not bad manners or law breaking. Road Rage is trying to either hurt or scare somebody.

I assume this boxer died elsewhere as only one death has been attributed to a cyclist in Ireland in 15 years and that was an old man. Still irrelevant to road rage

If I don't does that mean somebody should try to kill me? The thread is about road rage not whether cyclists are allowed on the road. If you want to talk about road positioning you can look up the law and argue it on the cycling or motor forum.

I cycle on average 30-40km per day commuting to and from work in Dublin city (Portmarnock to D8) and I've never had anyone try to knock me down or run me off the road. And I'm making the same journey over 25 years.

Sure poor judgement happens a lot, and people on mobile phones are a scourge but purposely trying to harm me ~ 'tis never happened.

I'm wondering this too because a childhood friend who was also a promising boxer was knocked down by a cyclist and killed, but that was a very long time ago.

We were both in our teens so I'm going back over 20 years.

A few, but the one that stands out for me is watching a guy in traffic noiselessly shouting behind the windscreen at everyone and after a while he started punching his dashboard. He then broke the rim of the steering wheel in frustration.

The other was on the Tallaght bypass(at the pyramid Square turn off) a decade back, where some irritable pencil neck stuck in traffic was shouting at the car in front. Then he laid into the horn for long blasts. Then the lad got out from the car in front and calmly walked back to the horn blower's car. This lad had more muscles stuck to him than Dun Laoghaire pier. A short exchange of words ensued, followed by the big lad dragging the pencil neck out off his car via the window in a reverse Dukes of Hazard stylee(showing my age).

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Posted this in a trival annoyances thread last year:

Learning to drive in my early thirties. It's going pretty well. Had a lesson today and at a right turn at a crossroads I didn't quite complete the turn as fast as I should. As I was looking into the new road, a woman waiting to exit beeped at me and I could see her flailing her arms wildly inside the car while her face was contorted into what was no doubt a string of abuse aimed at me.

Maybe the fact that I was in a car covered in about 17 million Ls together with 'Driving School' written in massive letters on its side might give her some indication why I wasn't driving like pro.

People who have no patience for learners are assh*les who clearly forget they were once learners themselves.

Didn't particularily bother me but I could understand how it could phase a more nervous or less confident learner.

Boy racer on the Ring of Kerry road between Torc Waterfall and Moll's Gap. ie a narrow winding road with no pull ins - and he was so close he made it impossible. Headlights on full.... revving and roaring.... mile after mile... A local lad. In a souped up car.. late evening so it was dark.

I don't have an 'incident', sorry.

But Rusty Cole posted about a promising boxer who was knocked down and killed by a cyclist. It reminded me of a friend from my teen years who was also a promising boxer, he was knocked down by a cyclist and died of head injuries. I was wondering if it was the same lad.

But if you want I can give an incident which I've posted about in the cycling forum.

In 1995 I was knocked down by a cyclist on Ashling Quay, Dublin. I fractured both elbows and my right wrist.

My daughter was born two weeks later and I wasn't allowed hold her because of my injuries. The bloody cyclist cycled off, scumbag.

Personally I don't get road rage, but I've had some people scream their heads off at me and even some people get out of their cars to me. But I'm good at bringing about peace through superior intimidation, so nothings ever come of it.

A taxi driver mounted the footpath and drove over my foot. Then got out of the car and screamed at me.

There was a road involved, and rage. So I suspect that counts. :P

One had someone in a car nearly ram me into a central median on my motorbike because he didn't see me. Admitted he didnt see me because he didn't check his mirror. I told him he didn't need it and took it with me. :pac:

The local Gards weren't too pleased and asked me to sign a lovely document to say I wont do it again. Granted my wall of mirrors is complete and I've somewhat calmed down. :)

in Poland driving along and driver behind me started trying to pass me and flashing me. Was a single lane road at this stage so i kept going (was at a normal enough pace, i wasn't too slow or too fast). road came to dual carriage way so i took the slow lane and he took the fast lane but drove along side me and gestured me, rolled down his windows and started shouting. I was driving a German rental car at the time so this could have been part of the issue. so i gave him the one finger salute (i know very brave!) this drove him banana's altogether and he kept along side me for a couple of miles and i just ignored him. I could see a traffic lights in the distance and i started to panic wondering what would i do it they were red when i approached. low and behold they turned red and he was still beside me. i stopped about 100 meters from the red lights and he stopped behind me and got out of the car - big brute of a lad with a baseball bat. I just took off slowly, faster than running speed and by the time i reached the red light it had turned green and that was the last i seen of him!

Witnessed a big argument between a van and a bicycle once. Very unsavoury scenes

I believe the cyclist banged his fist off the sidedoor of the van and the two occupants got out, smacked him, and threw his bike into the river.

I have to travel from Ballymount to Wicklow town once a week and I have lost count of the number of creatures doing just below the prevailing speed limit on both the M50 and the M11 holding up the cars behind them and refusing to move into the leftmost lane to let cars pass.

Recently I got in traffic on the m50 southbound behind a horsebox( empty) being drawn by an SUV with Garda makings, possibly the equestrian wing of the Garda Siochana. He wasn't slouching. I was amused and amazed how quickly traffic ahead of him on the rightmost lane pulled out of the way very quickly so that all I had to do was to follow him closely and got to my destination at least 15 minutes earlier than usual. All the usual muppets pulled in out of the way very quickly instead of trying to do 100kph in the rightmost lane of the M50 south of jct 14, where the actual speed limit is 120kph. It is amazing how people pull in when a vehicle has GARDA written all over it but won't pull in for other cars even when doing below the posted speed limit.

I have lost count of the slow coaches sitting in the outer lane of our motorways slowing everybody down, but it was delightful to see that most are very observant when followed by a GARDA car and quickly get out of the way.

Pity they don't do it for "ordinary" civilians.

There isn’t a driver alive who has come out Anglesey Road from Ballsbridge and tried to get out on to the N11 Stillorgan Road and through that yellow box at rush hour on a regular basis who hasnt witnessed road rage!

Jaysus just wait and see the airs and graces of the south Dublin missus disappear as she fires insults from her gob that would make a hardened dockyard worker blush as the accent disappears!

Witnessed it myself on numerous cases and got an earful from one such lady who proceeded to get out of her Land Rover to shout abuse at me cos I had hesitated for probably 5 seconds or so which meant the light turned red to turn on to the N11.

I actually sat there smiling at her as she fired abuse at me, I rolled down my window and simply asked her “are you ok?”

This seemed to completely throw her and she stood there saying “sorry, what” so I asked again “are you ok?” because you just abandoned your car in the middle of the road with your kids sitting in it and one of them is now crying all because you have been held up for probably 2 mins dues to a missed light!”

She mumbled a sorry I think and just got back in to her Land Rover.

    Surreal what road rage does!
