Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Good journalism. Imagine!

I signed up for this offer, having had an account when it launched in the UK originally. I'm already starting to be reminded why I unsubscribed the first time. A huge amount of guff and fan-placating articles.

  • Registered Users Posts: 63 ✭✭qaz123

Thanks OP. Never signed up before but often see links to articles I'd like to read so for 12 euro for the year it's a great deal. Cheers

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,672 ✭✭✭torrevieja

Just wondering if i was to cancel when is the best time to cancel after the year is it a month before hand or does the subscription stop immediately thanks

It auto-renews - I took out a discounted sub in August 2019 and didn't get any renewal reminders, just an email 12 months later to say that I had been renewed (at full price!)

I think the question he was asking is if he signs up today and cancels tomorrow, will he still get the 12 months? Or do you need to cancel next August/September?

It bills monthly so you'd cancel after 11 months.

Thanks OP, signed up for this last week and the few articles I've read so far put it way ahead of any other publication.

For example, I'm a Leeds fan, and despite the loss to Liverpool, the commentary on the match from Phil Hay and Michael Coxes tactics analysis is simply unparalleled anywhere.

Also, the comments section is like thejournal/the42 - except it's far more indepth, insightful and less toxic :)

£1 deal is still available, just use a different email address.

You might make a saving for now but this will come back to bite you.

    How?

You sign up for 12 months at £12 and cancel your subscription when it’s almost over (or perhaps you can do it well in advance without losing the sub, even easier)

The only way it can bite you is if you automatically renew at the full price. Which is fully in everyone’s control.

Thanks OP, this is a great offer,
My subscription ended yesterday so I renewed today using the link and same email address and happy days, £1 a month for the year.

Mine was the same. Opt to cancel and you will get an email within a few hours offering it for half price.

I'll wait around, would rather it than set up a new account

Seems like it's permanently on offer - but £1 a month for a year in their ""Black Friday Sale", ends Monday it says

    http://theathletic.com/blackfriday

It really is well worth it at that price

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,393 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

Near permanent offer it seems, £1 a month via

    At this link.

    Reverts to £7.99 afterwards.

Don't know how long this offer will last, but it's silly cheap at £1 a month.

This link is still working for £1 per month for 12 months.

Any way to filter out the women's football news? I can't imagine 99% of subscribers having any interest.

Thanks, my subscription expired 26th Dec. and I was looking around for a deal, I never thought of checking in Bargain Alerts until tonight. This link still working, just received confirmation new subscription for 12 months at £1 per month.

Doesn’t seem to be working for me. I’m just getting 30% off when I click on that link. Subscription is due up next month so I’m on the lookout for a deal.

Try opening it in an incognito browser window. They won't let you renew at that price so it doesn't show if our already logged in

I mean on the athletic site where's the option to pay by revolut? Guessing you need a revolut card though

You sign up, enter your payment details. Obviously if you don't have a Revolut account you can't pay with Revolut.

Only gives me option to pay by Google pay (my debit card) or PayPal. Have money in my revolut account that I'd use. Do I need a physical revolut card? Only have the online account.

You can use the virtual Revolut card with both Google Pay and PayPal.

Revolut will give you a virtual card, use that to pay like with any other credit card

The Athletic website let me add my regular revolut card.

Cheers OP excellent content, is there a way you can block certain sports from appearing on the main feed like NFL, NHL or Womens Soccer?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 107 ✭✭melatonin

I cancelled my sub a few weeks back so can't check but there should be a manage feed option in the corner or under your profile

Signed up for this in Sept last year @ £1 & just went to cancel before it jumps to £7.99 from next payment.. When cancelling, offered £1.50 per month to stay as a 'Today Only' offer. Signed up for another year, decent value at that price to lock in the 12 months

    EXCLUSIVE OFFER: TODAY ONLY

We would hate to lose you as a subscriber. Lock in our lowest price of just £1.50/mo (£17.99 billed annually) when your subscription renews next for a full year of relentless reporting and in-depth analysis from the best newsroom in sports.

I got the same offer as above today when I went to cancel ...Happy to day that price as I use site daily ....People may get a better offer if they cancel completely and are willing to do without service for a bit..I didn't want to do that.

Note..Offer appeared as a pop up window on Android device so you might want to ensure nothing is blocked before cancelling .

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,732 ✭✭✭bigron2109

Got the same offer on when I went to cancel using my iPhone and was happy to take it, can’t really complain about that price .

Same here, went to cancel and got it for £17.99 for a year’s subscription. Happy days.

Is there a €1 a month link or 60% the best offer there at the moment?
