Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone ever attended presser before? Would you want to be queuing a good bit in advance?

No need to queue really, there usually is a massive queue but you could easily stroll in 10 mins before it starts and avoid all that. Unless your particular about where you want to sit, which doesn't really matter. the seats up close are reserved for media etc.

The person I spoke to checking into the hotel said the same. Fair few irish around already but Vegas is fairly quiet, maybe its just cos its a Wednesday.

Any word on official times for the door etc for the presser tomorrow? Fairly wrecked now after the day of travel but gonna be up early tomorrow and make a day of it

I showed up 5 minutes late to the UFC 100 weigh in and wasn't allowed in. Fight Club member or not.

Good. The lads were probably all decked out in their finest tracksuits, tricolors and singing away with a belly full of booze by 11am. I had to sit through hours of insufferable ***** when I went over for the Aldo fight.

I remember reports of flights being turned around and fights on board before take off previously. I'd feel sorry for any genuine respectable fan who got caught up in this but zero sympathy towards the other scrotes.

The lad I saw tweeting about it insisted that he was kosher but some of the other lads had "past convictions"

Actually lads something I posted in the main CMG thread which may be of some use. We landed in immigration yesterday in Vegas and the que was already insane - if you already have your esta form done, there's a self service on the right hand side where you just scan your passport and I was genuinely through in about five mins. Met a guy from our flight earlier in the day later on in the mgm who said they were 2.5hrs getting through immigration.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,462 Mod ✭✭✭✭Axwell

You need to have your ESTA done to leave Dublin/London anyways..if you dont have it they will make you go do it there and then online.

Yeah I always thought that myself but it was a strange moment, one of the staff at the airport came upto me and asked if I had my esta completed (which I thought went without saying) and he almost whispered that there was a self service terminal for people who've already had their esta approved. I thought everyone getting off the flight would already have their esta approved, and maybe they did tbf. Now for all I know the self service could have gotten much busier when people saw us breezing through it

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,462 Mod ✭✭✭✭Axwell

Well not every country can apply for an ESTA so it was maybe they meant if you have an ESTA you can self service as its matched to your passport and can be read electronically. Someone who cant get an ESTA has to go through customs, they cant do it electronically.

The mate selling didnt hide why but that shouldn't be said on public forums. Not massive offences

Were they honest on the ESTA application? If you lie and are caught they'll tell you to **** off every time.

Trying to enter the US with a conviction on your record is a risky game

Genuinely I saw none of that, everywhere I went both sets of fans were very well natured. Before and after the fight. Listening to second captains earlier and they had a guy from the examiner reporting from Vegas who said the air of tension was palpable wherever he went after the fight - total bullsh*t.

A load of Russian lads came into 9 fine Irishmen in NYNY after the fight and a jovial time was had by all.

Sadly those f*cking apes in that video have painted the scenes over there to be far different to what it was actually like. It was very annoying to read all of the reports after the fight from Irish media about the atmosphere over there because as usual they wanted to go hatchet on anything and everything to do with McGregor. This tweet from Marc Raimondi was the only accurate portrayal of it :

Also, can I just say - the lad who got sparked in that video deserved a smack.

Yes, agreed: I didn't see any trouble or feel any atmosphere of aggression. I think it's a shame that the media was so keen to present that idea.

A fight broke out in my section just after the fight ended. Security nullified it fairly quickly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,284 ✭✭✭✭rob316

As I thought, a load of nothing bigged up by the media.

Anyone with half a brain wouldn't go near these russian lads anyway. Irish crowds in my experience at these just shout ole ole ole ole ole ole ole.

I'm having withdrawal symptoms now to be honest. Love Las Vegas, love the place itself, love the buzz, love the fight week events like press conference and weigh ins, loved the atmosphere infront of the arena beforehand with the fighters outside taking pics, loved the commraderie before and after with both Irish and Russians - despite what the media would have you believe :D

Sadly I think I'll struggle to get anyone to come with me to a non mcgregor fight, and if he fights in the summer then Vegas is too expensive. Great times though.

Agreed. Had been to Vegas before (and didn't really care for it), but not for a fight. This trip was incredible, though: was really sorry to come home.

I'm lucky that my wife enjoyed the whole trip too and is happy to visit again for a card without McGregor.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,663 ✭✭✭JoeyJJ

Thats 4 times there now over 11 years (4 fight cards). May be a long long time before we go again. Still love the place even though it is getting more expensive.

Yeah it's definitely getting more expensive I noticed that myself

I'd love to go back, might even wangle a trip this year sometime.

Been 4 times, UFC 100, 116, 189 and Manny Pacquaio's retirement fight (although he didn't stay retired) against Bradley I think.

Anyone else heading to MSG this week? Looking forward to the main event and Weidman v Jacare. Other than that I'm really disappointed in the card. Especially losing the Diaz Poirier fight.
