Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Tesco & Dunnes have the same. They've been 3 for a fiver for several years now on the run up to Easter in most supermarkets and shops.

indeed, a simple search in this forum shows several supermarkets were at this price. Tesco even had thorntons eggs at that price at a reasonable weight.

What was "medium" 20 years ago is now smaller.
Your not gonna get cheaper than 3 for 5
not gonna get 3 "what" exactly, give example weights. You do easily get them cheaper but I suspect you would then maybe cop out and say "oh I meant bigger ones" rather than admit you were wrong.

But as I said a simple search will show what they should drop to.

The creme egg and kit kat ones say 1 egg/bar in the descriptions.

Rule of thumb is that a full size solid bar is typically about 50g, things like creme eggs, wispas, aero, kit kat being a bit less. They do not actually have to declare the weight on the packet if a bar is under 50g, and on many bars they do not explicitly declare the weight -but it can often be worked out from the nutritional info. e.g. is might say 300kcal per 100g, and 100kcal per bar, meaning it is 33.3grams -yet nowhere on the pack does it say 33g.

In dealz most stuff is 1.50 so easier to compare, I would want to be getting 130g+ for 1.50, unless it is higher value stuff.

Years ago a "medium" egg meant 2 full size bars and an egg of about 100g. Todays medium would have been called small years ago.

Weights vary between 123g and 162g. At those weights I doubt any would have two fullsize bars.

I had a look in my local tesco, selling a medium Cadburys egg for €.50 at the moment, same egg is £1.50 in the UK.

From looking at what they have in in my local one, they have less eggs out this year than at this time last year

My Tesco did the strangest thing. They bought out a few bits after Christmas. Mini eggs/etc. Followed by all the medium/large eggs a few weeks later.
Then last week they put all the medium/large eggs away again.

RRP is pretty irrelevant, especially on the oddity that is easter eggs. You can see tesco had utterly ludicrous prices just so they can pass the legal limit and now legitimately & legally declare they are reduced by 50 or 80%.

Weight, and therefore price per kilo is what I am interested in, and type of chocolates -e.g. creme eggs are usually expensive per kilo, as are wispa, malteasters etc.

In dealz scanning prices and I would like to see at least 150g per E1.50. If bars are "light" like milky way rolls I might go less.

e.g. tesco were selling 4x52g packs of rolos for 1.50 a while back, I considered that a very good price and would would buy easter eggs if it was close to that price per kilo. Obviously some value them more for the "gift factor" of them.

tesco own brand twix/snickers/mars average 3euro per kilo for comparison.

A facebook advert for tesco says

However when you click on "shop now" in the same ad there are no 5 for 5 available.

The yellow label in the shop last night still had 6-3-18 as the end date.

the "medium" eggs which were 4.49 and 5 for 5 are now 2.49. Online anyway.

Cadbury Extra Large Creme Egg Easter Egg 497G Tesco €8
    and that is half price.

It has 5 eggs. You get 5 of the small ones for a fiver, with 1 egg each and overall weight is 690g.

I saw a guy with several kids and I think they were picking a few each, far better value and probably less likely to demolish the same amount of chocolate in 1 sitting.

Also more variety in being able to get several small ones.

I saw a selection of chocolates in this one in debenhams. http://www.debenhams.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10052_10001_311100218299_-1

The lidl catalogue I got yesterday had something like "check instore for prices" written about the easter eggs. Like they will not necessarily be priced the same in all shops.
