Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm very surprised that wasn't in the News.

If a child goes missing I would expect it to be all over the media.

    That's a boy?

Hope he / she's found soon either way. :(

Jesus, I never realised there were so many missing people in Ireland.
God help their them and their families.

Has it been reported at all? It's probably a domestic/parental dispute

OP is right, strange that no newspapers have picked anything up, even a google search brings up practically nothing. Hopefully he comes home safe and sound.

There isn't much info at all about him on Trace Missing Ireland or crime.ie.

Why would it take a week for a missing 6 yr old to get media coverage?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,404 ✭✭✭✭vicwatson

More than meets the eye if the media haven't got wind of this, missing child is media gold.

Hope the poor child gets home safe and sound.

Jesus, i find it hard to believe a 6 year old can be missing a full week and hardly anyone has heard of it - is there more to this than a simple missing persons case?

Probably with one of the parents and in no danger. It's not the same as a child that goes missing and parents report it.

It's still strange. Wouldn't they give more info like "Last seen with this woman/man" ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,134 ✭✭✭Lux23

It's probably that they know who has him and they thought it could be sorted out quietly, happens a lot apparently.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,753 ✭✭✭davet82

if this turns out to be true, i'd be asking serious questions of the guards on this one (i'm not a guard basher poster btw) unless there is some underlying reason they havent been shouting this from the hilltop

i'm not doubting you but out of curiousity how do you know that?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,299 ✭✭✭✭later12

It sounds as though it may be the result of a domestic dispute, and hopefully there is no serious prospect of the boy being in any danger.

I'm sure this is no consolation to whoever is missing him, but if that were the case then at least his disappearance would be a result of too many people loving him, instead of wanting to do him any harm.

Still, lets hope he is found safe and well soon.

I don't know for sure but parents fight over their children all the time which can lead to the police commencing a missing person's inquiry. Sometimes it can cause more trouble if they go on the airwaves screaming about a missing child so they do it on the quiet.

makes sense i suppose depending on the situation

well i hope the little boy finds his way home safe and sound

It's not strange at all, it happens all the time. This parent might have custody and the other parent reported the child missing, they are probably on holiday.

If that were the case, why would the Gardai need to place the boy on their missing persons page ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,758 ✭✭✭Laois_Man

What's with the amount of Japanese, Korean or whatever people on that list?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 34,418 ✭✭✭✭hondasam

Because someone reported him missing, most likely a parent has taken the child out of the country and it's to highlight it.
Do you think if this child actually went missing without either parent having any knowledge of it the gardai and media would keep it quiet?
    I would say it's a custody battle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 948 ✭✭✭Muir

Not all missing persons get reported in the media, far from it. Hopefully it is just a custody thing with the parents

Well until I know otherwise, I will keep bumping this thread and sharing facebook link.

    I do hope it's just a domestic.

I think rte news might be highlighting it if it were an actual missing child ie not with one of the parents.

Broadsheet have the article up on their site now.

In this particular case, bravo to both sites highlighting it as I say the more publicity the better to find this wee guy. Fingers crossed he OK.

I always found the surname as a first name thing weird.

And why is this not on the news? That's nearly a week ago.

Ya sounds like it could be a family/domestic/custody case considering the lack of publicity,

Funny though, got a letter from creche in the area on 1st of june...2 weeks before he went missing.

    Dear Parents/Guardians,

Last week a report was made to the Gardai in relation to a resident of Cashel road and two unidentified persons driving a silver car who tried to abduct a child.

Please be extra vigilant, especially if you live in that area. Don’t hesitate to report anything suspicious to your local Garda Station.

    Regards

I do hope it's a domestic and that at least the poor child is with one of the parents and it's not a case of abduction.

Though it wouldn't surprise me if it was an abduction and it's not in the media, there is great disdane towards children in state care by the media so it doesn't surprise me if this is in the mix here.

Hopefully his safe return is swift.

I didn't think the point of these types of threads was for people to start giving opinions on the child's image and name. Jaysus.

    I agree, it's beyond insensitive.

This is a defenceless child we're talking about. I hope to god this little boy turns up safe and sound. My thoughts are with his poor family.

According to the comments on that site . This could be the kid at the center of the vaccination case. The Mother refused to have the child Vaccinated so the father applied to get a court order to order the mother to have him vaccinated, Now it appears the mother may have done a runner to Manchester

Thanks Raptor. I just read through all the comments on their main page.

The courts gave the father custody for a reason and I hope they find the boy and his mother soon.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,052 ✭✭✭u_c_thesecond

I had a look on the face book page and it says his father had full custody and the mother has taken him

Have just seen this on Facebook too.

I have to say I'm as shocked as Hell at how many people are missing here and NOTHING is heard about it on the news etc.

Never mind a six year old kid.

    Disgraceful:mad:

He's missing with his own mother. No imminent danger one would suspect.

    (Not that I condone it)

According to the Garda site;"This is subject to court proceedings." so it does look like a domestic dispute. Missingkids.ie also state the case type as 'Concern for welfare'.

So..thankfully, we are not looking at a case of a kidnapping/murder for sexual reasons.

Also, as one of the boys parents is English, it is believed that he is now in the UK.

  • Registered Users Posts: 94 ✭✭madamab

He is indeed with his Mother and Grandmother - neither parent is English - this is just speculation.

I hope he's found safe. It probably hasn't been reported because he's with a parent, not a stranger.

    Was not aware of this.
So it is case of abduction, not missing child?

Are the mother and grandmother foreign nationals(take it as so considering their absconding)?
