Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I was for 30 years and tell you 99% of Travelers are lovely people

Well thats your experience and thats great, Im delighted you have had a good experience with them.

What was the capacity or circumstance? Age range of those you dealt with?

    Unfortunately, my own experiences differ.

    Perfect.

So let’s test your theory. Give us a surname and location and we can put that into google along with the word “court” or “arrest” and we should return zero results, righ?
So if I googled your surname nobody with the same name has ever commited a crime?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,219 ✭✭✭pablo128

So if I googled your surname nobody with the same name has ever commited a crime?

What do you have to worry about? Didn't you just say 99% of travellers don't commit crime?

Sorry I had to come back and edit this post. You merely said they were lovely people. Apologies. Well played sir.

Surname and address is what would make it distinct to my family and no, you wouldn’t find any results :)

Actually, I just googled my first and surname and I think I’m the only one in the world. Now that’s unique :)

Regardless. If I had a popular name you could probably find people with the same name who had criminal records but if you added my address, would come up zilch. Which is why I said for you to give us a traveller surname and location so we can test your 99% are nice theory.

Type in "McGinley Sligo". No need to bother with "Arrest" or "Court"

Two young traveling men stoped this morning helped me fix a punctured tyre.
Very pleasant and obliging a credit to their parents.
Just goes to show don't believe all the nonsense on social media.

    What nonsense?

You can't judge all Travelers with the same brush all because of a very small minority.
Seems like Travelers are fair game for openly rasict abuse

It's not a small minority on afraid

Loads of thinkers and their caravans were moved from Naas there recently since they destroyed an area with bags and bags of shlt all over the place... Lots of Gardai forced them to move on. Big job cleaning up the area after them.

Lots of in fighting between Bernard and Pavee point on his thread today. If traveller activists can’t even agree then they have no chance.
    Bernard seems really bitter.

    Bollox.
    utter complete and total bollox

you assersion that the vast majority of travellers are non criminal hard working tax payers is untrue completely

the percentage of "good " travelers verses "bad travelers is more like 90% to 10 % .

and yes i ve also coached and worked with travelers and been involved in CEART and well as socially .

That's what we used to call smart Travellers.

How do you know it was them that destroyed the area? It is often settled Amish pirate eskimos that dump their bags and bags of shìt all over the place.

I know how to change a tyre every car is equipped with a Jack and a wheel brace and spare tyre.
I'm not as young as I used to be and was struggling with loosening the nuts.
The two lads stopped and helped me.
Took over the job done helpful.
    They were very helpful.
Why is so hard to believe that two young traveling men would help me.
They wouldn't even take the price of a drink
