Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Always a fairly impossible task to make any predictions with such a distant timeline, but it's also interesting to think about. Especially when you need something to distract yourself from the doom & gloom of the past week :(

The likes of Henderson, Henshaw, McCloskey, Murray, Ruddock, Moore, McGrath, Conan & a few others all look to have the capacity to continue developing even further & may well become top class players at international level. JJ Hanrahan, Olding, Marmion, Furlong, Ringrose, & several others also have buckets of potential & may kick on to be top internationals if they stay healthy.

There's plenty of talent around right now, so it will all depend on who can nail down a starting spot at their province & stay injury free. There's a good basis with the lads above though, and hopefully there will be plenty more coming through in the next few years.

Curious as to how you feel Jackson will improve his versatility and leapfrog Madigan. Mads will be plenty young enough to hold that 22 jersey.
More likely I would think that Sex will be gone from the game and Jackson starting. With Mads still on the bench.

The last couple of months have proved how impossible these predictions are. 6-8 months ago, no one was talking about Dillane, VdF, Bealham or even CJ really. Now we would all expect them to be going to the RWC in 2019.

Agree about Bealham, but mainly because AhYou dropped off the standard, and Moore is leaving

Disagree for CJ, obvious pick for anyone since he's IQ, sadly just after RWC
Even Dillane and VdF were clear prospects for RWC in 3 and 1/2 years. Much time to develop from their natural abilities

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,257 ✭✭✭Hagz

I don't think Dillane was a clear prospect personally. At the start of the season I don't think anyone would have predicted him to get a cap, or to get a cap over the ensuing two seasons to be honest. All that being said, he may still miss out on the RWC 2019 with the calibre of second row coming through from all provinces.

I did a quick scan back through the thread and a couple of people had CJ but no one had Dillane or VdF before the 6 Nations started. I think nearly everyone has Murray. Hope someone is at the very least challenging him for his spot 3.5 years from now.

Front row, not second row. Every team has to have a LH, a TH and a hooker on the bench.

Not much different from my first list... Stander and Kearney I think will keep their spots. Henshaw may move to the bench, I think McCloskey may push him out of the side. Payne's too good to drop imo.

The issue isn't where the players came from but could that team win a RWC? Or make semis? Or get out of their pool? The answer to all those questions is no.

Jordan Lamour should be getting leinster senior gametime next season and if he continues to improve I can see him pushing his way into the Ireland setup. We could do with a top quality 2nd row but I went with James Ryan hoping he steps up next year as what we have now is mediocre

Jordan Lamour should be getting leinster senior gametime next season and if he continues to improve I can see him pushing his way into the Ireland setup. We could do with a top quality 2nd row but I went with James Ryan hoping he steps up next year as what we have now is mediocre

CJ had better get some anti ageing pills fast or else he'll be 50 by the 2023 WC!

If you put a player into this thread who has yet to play for their province, you curse them. That is a fact. And I know this because I did it to players myself.

Hard luck Jordan Larmour and James Ryan, I had high hopes for you.

If Sexton is around in 2019, there's no doubt of him starting. I don't think we'll ever see him play a bench role.

Obviously a lot can change between now and then with injuries and unexpected departures but should have a good squad going over
