Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Also this type of behaviour is usually a factor in labeling people scum;

Nobody said he was some saint. However if you set up a society with two sets of rules it's a recipe for disaster. The murderer nobody bothered with because he killed 'another scumbag' goes on to kill an entirely innocent person, etc.

What kind of society would you like to see?

No idea if putting a / on front of close thread does it automatically, I aint no techy, and I don't like making that decision not being a mod, so if you wanna leave it open I don't care, if you wanna close it, I don't care. Was just curious why it wasn't being discussed. I'll leave it up to your good self as the main man/girl/person (covering the PC backlash).

    Cheers.

The victim himself (still not sure if we can name him even though a paper has online) wasn't from the area either so could happen anywhere in the city..or abroad as in the case of one of the innocent people killed.

The sentencing in that case is a bit bizarre. I'm not overly surprised at the suspended sentence to be honest but how did he get off so lightly compared to the other guy?

My only knowledge is from reading that article and another one about his accomplice's sentencing and they both seem to have been equally involved.

Not particularly directed at you, Omackerel. Unless you were the judge

Derek Hutch, he was in the halting site to acquire drugs.
One of the biggest dealers in West Dublin runs that site

What’s with the “a new me “ comment.

Would you be trying to make little of me?

Is that supposed to be a dig..?

Do you not accept the word of people living in areas as how life goes on.?

I’ve had 48 years of it, 26 of this supporting the local community against ignorance and working towards better for myself. I dont need your blessing.

    Thanks. My parents are separated.

Both live within 30 seconds of shootings within last two years.

As such. I can’t take the humor. Especially as it’s impacted other innocent families.

This is not a “bit of a joke”topic.

It’s a serious topic but having an impact on real people.

How is shooting in residential areas a bit of a joke for those living there?.

He was implying it. Read the post.

He was trying to mock my username.

Don’t defend people when they are in the wrong. Let them make their own apologies.

he trying to mock my user name for a cheap laugh about ordinary Dubs living in areas where pot shots are taken at criminals and by being there you could be there at the wrong time. That’s my family you are talking about.

For me,getting out of the west Dublin stigma was calling people out in when they tried to belittle me. I won’t fckn tolerate it. Not here. Not anywhere..

What are the guards at that a convicted killer with a history of firearms offences who is connected to the largest ongoing criminal feud in the country can be hanging around prisons having drugs tossed over the wall? I would have thought that somebody of that character would want to be keeping a low profile. Surely the law should have got to him before the gunmen did?

-Edit: I may have the wrong Derek Hutch. The one killed here is Derek Coakely Hutch, while Derek "Del Boy" Hutch is the one with the manslaughter conviction maybe

Could well be bull****, just a rumour I heard but believable.

By the way, I don't think this guy is a convicted killer. His cousin has exact same name and is currently locked up.

Thanks, realised my confusion of these two charmers.

So the one killed today was the guy who was given a suspended sentence for a violent Robbery?! I think the judges should be made work one day a week as security on the Red Line Luas, it might bring some sense to their sentencing.

Indeed, and said cousin is still in that exact prison, plausible that he parked up the road at halting site as is his life was under threat and using the public Carpark wouldnt be a smart move as people after him would make it their first place to look out for family members visiting

Will there be peace when the head of either organisation is no more or will it require a concert for peace to sort it all out?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,651 ✭✭✭tomofson

I was wondering what he was doing in a halting site, the explanation about the drugs throw seems very plausible.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,797 ✭✭✭✭hatrickpatrick

To those in the know: are the Kinahans just better resourced, do the gardai have some kind of preference for them over the Hutches, or are the Hutches just unlucky? The other day, a bunch of guns were seized which were allegedly going to be used by the Hutch crew against Kinahan associates. It seems that the Hutches tend to get intercepted by law enforcement far more often on their way to a hit, which is one of the reasons the Kinahans have been "winning" in terms of who's doing more damage to who - is this because the cops find it easier to intercept hutch associates, or because they're more interested in intercepting hutch associates?

I could be wrong, but having followed this feud closely it strikes me that the primary reason for the discrepancy between hutch and kinahan success rates is largely down to the hutches being repeatedly frustrated by law enforcement - while the kinahans seem to somehow slip under the radar until it's too late to prevent a shooting.

    Any insights?

I can see D junior done this year, because he is the one directing this mayhem.
His father will ride this storm out somewhere, as will "Monk".
Bop Roe will be be got as will S McG, and possibly Jaws
