Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

just a word of warning. Not about the gear, or even the site itself, per se, but I've noticed some very 'dodgy' sponsored AliExpress ads after visiting this site. Most are for cycling gear, some are for electronic items, but others are for a woman made out of latex (yes, you read that right). And, since I visited the site on my work computer, it doesn't look the best when they appear with my boss looking over my shoulder.

(and no, I never went looking for ladies made out of latex on the AliExpress (or any other) site)

If your boss spots them you could suggest that work installs ad blocker software.

I can't say that I've ever had the same problem and I have been using aliexpress for years.

Clear your browser cache too while you're at it.

again, nope, there's nothing in my browser cache other than reams and reams of stackoverflow searches and an occasional visit to the guardian or boards.ie (unless you're suggesting one of those may be responsible?).

It's a canned image containing what I described (rather than a collection of individual images). If Image contains cycling-related stuff show to person who previously bought cycling stuff, type thing.

They are very, very smart - that's why they have basically taken over the Internet.

I think the opposite. Whatever I search for or view/read, I then see ads for these products / places when I am browsing.

Google ads are that smart. I got ads for plug sockets with inbuilt usb ports an hour after having a conversation about a redesign of our building and they were specifically talked about.

    Changed my mic settings after

Just ordered a Raccmer winter jersey there, partly because I was cold out on a spin yesterday, partly to save a good thread from a guy who ruined it because he likes gimps. Will update it when it arrives with sizing etc.

Got my order today! Very impressed with the jersey got a Medium as I'm generally a small, nice and warm!

The fingerless gloves and really good too just slide on no strapping!

The winter bib shorts I'm not so sure about the look, very shiny looking black material when on. But very warm and supportive. I got a Large and it fits grand ( 5ft10 and 69kg ).

    Overall impressed for the €€

Raccmer Official Store seem to have had huge price increases (more or less double) over the last few days

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,487 ✭✭✭Fighting Tao

Ive noticed this with other stores over the last few years in the run up to the 11.11 sale.

Just looked at my recent delivery... Ordered 29/08/17 Despatched 07/09/17 Delivered 25/09/17

Long delivery times are a pain but worth it imo

Ya I'm going to do that as I'm interested in trying them for size. I know the pitfalls of ordering from China so I shouldn't be complaining.

Anyone get any soft shell jackets off Ali?

Purchased a few pieces a couple of months ago and no complaints. Can't complain about the quality for the money and comfortable on, took about a month from order to delivery which is the only downside really. Normally a size large so went XL although the Cheji jersey is really snug so could afford to go 2 sizes up (think I'll work my way down to that one), herself would normally be a size 8/10 and the medium Cheji would also be a snug fit on Miss ALM.

Got these - here, here, here and https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Xinzechen-Men-s-Cycling-Shorts-Breathable-Mesh-MTB-Bicycle-Bib-Shorts-4D-Gel-Padded-Mountain-Road/32824020541.html.

Looking at a few pieces now for the cooler months ahead.

I bought this light for the bike, it was delivered in 3 weeks or so and I have only taken it out once and on one charge, in flashing mode, it was still blinking after 5 hours.

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/5-LED-Bicycle-Cycling-Tail-USB-Rechargeable-Red-Warning-Light-Bike-Rear-Safety-88373/32717032188.html

    It's alright for €2 :)
I just got this one too (rear light) - using it as the main light on my commuter. Build quality feels a bit flimsy (USB connection etc). but the light itself is great, especially the uneven flashing mode for morning, late afternoon this time of year when it's getting darker. We'll see how long it lasts

Any recommendations for brake/gear cables and housing from Aliexpress? I want to buy in bulk but it is hard to figure out what kind of quality you will receive.

Probably a good chance to be honest at the price. Adverts is full of lads ordering off ali express and selling on at a mark up. He has good feedback to be fair.

Agreed. Steel cable is quite generic. Maybe the housings and teflon coated cable are most likely to be poorer. However jagwire probably get their cables made in China!

Great prices but why so long with the delivery time? The summer would be over before a jersey gets delivered!

Because they generally post for free using the every day snail mail (ship not air) and so it takes considerably longer. Generally anything from 3 to 6 weeks.
