Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I went in for the first time in years last month on a Saturday and they were playing Slayer on the jukebox anyway.

Was it still 67 euro a pint?

I remember it being quite dear for a scooner of Sierra Nevada alright.

I don't go in there very often any more but whenever I do there is usually good music playing on the jukebox and plenty of rock and metal to choose from.
It's not as busy as it was in it's heyday by a long stretch though and it is expensive.

Is the Mezz now considereda Rock/Metal bar?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,347 ✭✭✭✭Grayditch

Since the old manager came back the playlist is certainly more rock, but I dunno of I'd consider it a rock bar. You'll still get your Killers with your Rage Against The Machine.

Gypsy, Poison/Outlaw, Hell in a short space of time. Supply was high but demand dropped off dramatically.

    It wasn't doing the biz.

It was at saturation point there for a while alright but Rockers are a fickle bunch.

    All back to Fibbers so!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,347 ✭✭✭✭Grayditch

Tribute gigs are big now, especially in Fibbers. I've actually no problem with that, really.

Decently priced gargle and a flexible playlist is what brings me back to a place

Nothing worse then a "Rock/Metal" night playing nothing but generic user friendly tracks.

Of the few times I went I only rarely had a good night (I'm sure that's more my own fault).

Out of curiosity I tried to look up Dublin on the Metal Travel Guide and the site is gone!?

So, off the top of my head it's Brux, Fibbers... (searches).... Ah The Gypsy Rose is gone too!?!

Decent opening in the market for a rock / metal bar. Fibbers on the Quays used to be good but it's awkward enough to get to.

    Why, have you tried it?

Club Hell used to be packed, where did the punters go?

Is there literally none now except Fibbers?

That's the question the promoters want to know too.

I think trying a night, especially a niche one is definitely worth a go, but as far having a wad of cash, a rock bar, a donut shop or a tattoo parlour might not be a great investment in Dublin right now.

The onus seems to have returned to live music, not least because of how much DME has done for Dublin.

How many times does this have to be asked? Yes! Go and check it out for yourself for confirmation.
Ask one more time and ye shall receive.
There's a rock bar in bruxelles down the stairs. Down and to the right, I think the old one was on the left...?

I posted this is another thread after a picture of Whelans stirred my memory .....

Those pics of Whelans always remind me of the time i won 2 tickets to see Chelsea Handler in the Olympia , Ahh feck it we says, shur we go.

So we went - sat through all her 'jokes' about female genitalia for 50 odd mins. 🙄

The thing is , on the way home we drove by Whelans, and i saw a big Tour bus parked outside with SOULFLY written on it !!!!!

I nearly cried..... Max is one of my rock hereos, and i cant believe i missed him playing there !!!!!!😌 😭

But ilooked up selistfm, and they only played 3 songs ??

Was anyone at this gig ??

I'd say someone just half updated it and noone changed it. That would have been a great gig!
