I'll state the obvious being that I live in Dublin.

    Fibber Magees.
    Bruxelles (downstairs to the left).
New Fibbers on the Quays.(Beside Sin É)

    That's all I know of! :(

I usually frequent The Metal Travel Guide anytime I'm looking for a rock/metal bar in a random country. Very useful!

Thanks jenizzle, you just ruined my thread .

Seriously though, while that is a very handy resource, I like the idea of having a thread where people can vouch for the listed venues so hopefully we'll get a few more listings on here.

What's the difference between old and new Fibbers?

New Fibbers (or Fibbers Rock Bar as it's called) is strictly over 21's and geared more towards the older Metal crowd. More like Bruxelles than the teenage pandering Fibbers on Parnell Street. It's a little more intimate too.

    :)

Also I've just been informed that there will be a dj in Fibbers Rock Bar (I think that is it's proper title).

ah crap... the jukebox was one of the reasons I liked going there, even more than Brux.
Any word of times/days etc or is it just rumour?

I'd like to add The Cave Prinsengracht 472, Amsterdam to the list. Great little bar with live music and and really friendly bar staff.

Well I'll put it down to rumour at this time. I read an update that a certain Dublin tattoo artist is doing a dj set in there, so that's what sparked my press-like rumour mill post. Aw.

    Berlin

Rockcafe Halford, Boxhanger Strasse: Ginormous statue of Rob Halford outside. Inside, it's all things Judas Priest, including a fine selection of metal cocktails

Jailbreak, Banschstrasse: Nice little place that's a nice little stopoff before hitting up the next place...

K17, Pettenkoferstrasse: This place is AWESOME! Courtyard/smoking area that has a little bar, and hotdogs and burgers on the bbq for a euro. To the left, there is a venue for bands. To the right, there's a 3-floored 4-roomed club. Ground floor has Gothic/EBM music. First floor has Electro/80's music. 2nd Floor is divided into two - one room has black/death metal, the other has heavy metal, nu-metal, trash etc. Each room has a bar and the place gets a great crowd on Friday and Saturday nights. Don't like the song they're playing? Just walk around till you find a room that is playing something better!

    Birmingham

    Scruffy Murphys
is a great aul place for a few pints, bit of a chat and some singing along later in the night. They play a bit of everything from nice rock n'roll to death metal.

    I'll add more hopefully...

Is this definitely a Rock/Metal-orientated pub? The website didn't give me that impression at all.

Yea, it is. It's better when it's quiet. It gets packed with IFSC workers at peak times. They play mainstream rock & metal music and it looks really gothic and cool. Usually find a bunch of rockers there before concerts in the o2. Cheapest pint in Dublin too :D There's DJ nights for pop/ dance as well though...

    nice thread.
I would like to add The Krazyhouse in Liverpool!

    http://www.thekrazyhouse.co.uk/

Its a 3 floor club with a metal floor which is quite big and sometimes they open quite late and do all nighters, you can get food there too! The whole place is likely to be taken over by a people train to a metal version of nelly the elephant at some point too!

Not sure how I've not found out about this place before now, I'm in Liverpool regularly for football matches. I'll be there over the May Bank Holiday so I'll do my best to get in there for a look.

Twister Vicks is in Waterford, and is getting a good reputation for rock and metal bands....

Incidentally if any bands wanna play down there let me know, as i'm in the process of organising a gig there in May, and we'll need another 2 - 3 bands.

 I don't get it. You've opened a thread called "Rock & Metal Pubs and Clubs" where the first post is a list of exactly that, clearly broken down by county and country and you still have to post a question? Was the first post not clear enough or something?

Yeah I can vouch for this one. Myself and mate went in before Prog Nstion last year, expecting little quiet English pub. What we were met with made us laugh in exasperation. Dozens of Opeth/DT fans with very loud Meshuggah-esque bands. Cool palce!

I was yeah actually :). I was in Liverpool last weekend for the Chelsea game. The less said about the football the better. In fact, every football game I watched went the wrong way :(.

Anyway, we went there on the Friday night. I was pretty drunk at this stage (we'd been drinking since 12) so, despite seeing the door for the pub on my left, I ended up going into the pub on the right which was called Fudge. Thankfully there wasn't any Village People music on but as soon as I realised my mistake we got the hell out and went next door. The music was ok, fairly standard for a metal bar - Metallica, Machine Head, Pantera. It was pretty quiet when we got there. Apparently Saturday night is a much busier night.

Fudge.......Perfect for lovers of scouse house music.............Fudge isn’t the classiest place in Liverpool but it sure is fun

    I bet.

ye the music is pretty mainstream, probably better when they're hosting the Redeemer nights or something like that. Some people really make an effort dress wise there. Jeez I didn't think anywhere was quite any night of the week in Liverpool although come to think of it, most of the students are finished up there now. I have a sister over there and she's the only one left in her flat the last while so that could be it, Liverpool is dead without the students.

I've been there a few times but each time I've been too drunk to notice the music :o. A perfect example would be a couple of weeks ago after the Dropkick Murphys gig. I remember the music being quite good in there but damned if I could remember any of the songs :).

Hey y'all ... there's a new Rock/Metal night starting up in The Academy in June ... it's going to be once a month on a friday and will play everything from classic rock to the heaviest of death metal ... THERE WILL BE NO EMO/SCREAMO/NU-METAL PUSSY ROCK CRAP WHATSOEVER ... just all the hard rock you can bang your head to.

Please befriend us on http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Dublin-Ireland/Valhalla-Rock-Metal-Club/120336777998300?ref=ts ... it'll be updated real soon with more details cos at the moment it's pretty barren.

And, importantly, there will be drink juicy promos all night long so it'll be easy on the pocket ... more details to follow!

Why do we need another Rock/Metal bar in Dublin we have 4 already?

    Brux
    Fibbers Rock Bar
    Fibber Magees
    Sonic Temple

They all do drinks promotions, (Brux and Fibbers Rock Bar play Classic Rock and Death Metal and focus on the 'adult' crowd) and they're already quiet enough as it is.

Bars are fine but somewhere with more of a club type atmosphere would be good like you see in other countries.

Because this one won't be playing Emo, Nu Metal or Screamo. With an elitist attitude like that it'll obviously be great.
