Notable wind convergence in place so it could be along this line that the heaviest rain occurs.

    Exceptional rainfall likely tomorrow.
Looks very heavy and persistent and will surely lead to local flooding

    2116 update from met eireann

Thursday will be wet in Munster and Leinster. Rain will be heavy at times with risk of localised flooding. It will fall as sleet in places in the afternoon and evening. Connacht and Ulster will have small amounts of rain and the northwest will be mainly dry. Highest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees and becoming very cold in the afternoon.

Aye,the water table should just about have recovered by the end of this after the very very dry summer

Admittedly, I was coming off the mountains as well, but the rain got noticeably easier as I headed from the mountains north up the N11 into town this morning. A few spots on the R755 were already covered in fairly big puddles - wouldn't go as far as calling them spot flooding (mainly the usual spots), but pretty early in the "event" all the same.

Steady moderate rainfall here in Ardfert, 8.2mm so far. I See a lot of rain showing up on the radar around Killarney, will be interesting to hear reports later.

Ditto near Arklow circa 200kms away
If this stalls here as expected, quite large totals will mount up by dark

What ever about rainfall in the South East, its been heavy rain nin-stop all morning in West Limerick and the roads have a heck of a lot of surface water on them and are completely crossed with very large puddles. Run off from the hills is adding to this.

I've been watching driving habits and there is no change. People are simply barrelling along, coming around bends straight into water completely across the road. They are driving as if it wasn't there. Far too complacent. Pot holes generally get hidden by the water and road users unfamiliar with them may come unstuck!

We get it now everytime it bloody rains, as the field is saturated, absolutely sick of it now

Is there any dry weather forecast in the next 7-10 days that lasts longer then a day

No stats, but pretty bad in the Belfield/ Donnybrook area. The Dodder is fairly raging, and Beaver Row has it's own river running down it beside the river.

Met Eireann got this warning badly wrong by leaving Waterford out and the amounts were too low also.

This is what they said at 6am today:
Rainfall Warning for Dublin, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford
25 to 35 mm of rain today with a risk of up to 40 mm along parts of the the south coast.

Waterford was a typo id say, it was in the updated warning. How hard is it to predict exact rainfall? 25% out at least with totals I guess.

They did eventually include Waterford but originally they didn't. I have the utmost respect for Met Eireann but to include all the neighbouring counties and not include Waterford was an error on their behalf. They did fix it but an error all the same.

Yes it was obviously omitted by mistake. Though I doubt it would have made much difference, most people don't pay much attention to yellow rain warnings and the regular forecast covered heavy rain for Munster anyway.
As it turns it this more of an orange warning than yellow for some areas but I remember seeing changes on each run on the HIRLAM yesterday so in fairness not easy to predict totals.

This is worth a consult for anyone about to step into the Dublin rush hour. Quite a bit of flooding at important pinch points already which are going to cause a bit of havoc.

Is that Claremont across the road, where the old Waterford Glass entrance is? I can't believe it is flooded that far back, there is still a slope down to the roundabout there!

Edit: just seen the WLR summary, yes it looks as though much of Waterford is under water, including bits that are not usually flooded. Glad I am not in the rush hour traffic today.
