Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not retro but somewhat arcade, Darius Burst Chronicle Saviours is discounted on PS4 to €17.99 which is a nice discount, that's from their PS Store.

Cheap upright with CRT for sale, you will have to travel to Belfast though, still, a reasonable €300

This and 3 others are for sale across the road for 650gbp for I reckon 200 would be a more sensible price.

I put a few games up in the marketplace.
Prices are reasonable i think for what the games are.

Golden Discs in Dundrum are selling off a lot of older games for €2 each. I just picked up a few today, and though not a massive selection, I found a couple on the PS2 like Gran Turismo 4. There's also a few shelves of older PC games, and I'm sure the PS3 stock was going for maybe €5 each (maybe even some for €2 also?), so probably worth a look if any of you are passing.

Nice, I'd love a couple but no where to store them and I know they'd only sit collecting dust. Ad says Killarney?

Dont bother with the 1 -2 video in out connections they are crap....some makes dont carry sound either so might be worth checking but either way great that a load have finally turned up on these shores :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,599 ✭✭✭BGOllie

was just looking at that yeah. the small ones look like they're composite single pin BNC connections.
can't make out what the bigger models are.

so the small ones should be gamer friendly
    ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,832 ✭✭✭geotrig

There are some small Sony" front shots " that could have rgb .. pity about the jvc they look to be in good condition ....

or someone could get them all and make a video wall :pac:

I've got one of those tiny 9" sony monitor's, it has bnc on back

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,725 ✭✭✭The Last Bandit

The Sony's will take RGB alright via BNC but with a screen that size composite should be ok, you'd hardly notice the dot crawl.

    I have no idea,

Very hard to see whats actually in the pile.
They seem to be moved around in different pictures or maybe there is 3 piles

guess I'll see later :) might take the lot if I can as he did say they were just taking space & mentioned getting rid of them altogether :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,945 ✭✭✭trout

    I'll gladly pay a mark-up to cover your time & petrol/daysul.

I've been looking for a small monitor for ages now :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,599 ✭✭✭BGOllie

no worries. I'll grab what I can and making notes of who needs one
As for price I've no interest in making a profit on these so we'll go with what's in the ad :)
Let me get there and have a look at them first :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,790 ✭✭✭Jack burton

Put me down for one aswell please Ollie.

I'd love a tiny one though for a single console little setup

I'd love to get 4 of those JVCs and make the single image accross the 4 screens. I remeber we talked about that a while ago here didnt we? I remember it being a lot harder than it seemed

I'd be more than happy with a small one..........

I'd like a big one please!
I've already got a little one and, while I can appreciate it I often wonder what a larger one might be like.
Plus, I'd be able to get others opinions on it when they see a big one and a small one next to each other at the next Beers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,599 ✭✭✭BGOllie

so ... next beers we'll be comparing sizes then ??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,563 ✭✭✭✭OwaynOTT

I'd like a small Sony one if its at all possible. I might have been able to get these for us, as I've a friend down that way. She's got stuff before and it would have been fun seeing her getting those.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,139 ✭✭✭martineatworld

I'd be interested in grabbing one (14/15inch) too if possible. Cheers!

    I'll take a big one (!) if they're rgb/gaming friendly Oliver :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,599 ✭✭✭BGOllie

alright after a bit of research from the photos it seems most of the jvc ones are composite in.

Only the sony ones seem rgb and I recognize a couple of 8 inch ones. If that's the case, the "bigger" ones would be 14 or 15 inch at most and I've no need for them so I'll save myself the 5 hours round trip from galway .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,247 ✭✭✭✭o1s1n
    Master of the Universe

Some of the smaller ones looked to be on a rack. In which case they might be black and white security sony monitors.

Any time I've been looking in to picking up JVC monitors like that they tend to be composite security monitors alright.

9 inch composite is fine (i use a 9 Inch PVM with my Famicom via composite and it looks great!) But the larger monitors would be an issue.

If I was in the market for a broadcast CRT and could get to th location it would definitely be worth checking out. There are so many monitors in that photo that there's a high probability there might be something really nice amongst it all.

Theres actually a term for this in the German language, (they have a word for everything)

Its Schwanzvergleich. Probably a good idea not to Google it though! ;)

    He's right. Don't google it :)

I actually got caught for googling it on a forum run by a German friend, people were bragging about music gear and he said "in Germany we call this Scwanzvergleich. Probably best not to google this word"

    :pac:

Fecker didnt make it as obvious I did!

I went down to that Guy last night to check out what he had. 100 or so monitors, mostly JVC and Benco with composite only, I had a search around for anything with RGB inputs and picked up a nice Sony pvm 20l4 (only big one I could find) a couple of sony 14L4's and few smaller 9" sony pvm's.. Also found some really nice Ikigami TM14-17R's. Think that was it, everything else there was composite only as far as I could tell.

    IMAG0236_1.jpg

Guy had a video camera hooked up so all these were tested and displayed colour bars perfectly
