Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

2km up the climb to Hautacam, looking over Argeles-Gazost. In the distance you can see the heavy rain falling on Col du Soulor.

I was going to post the following picture in this thread, but thought I might be asked to leave that thread if I did so here she is.

    1F9456CFA5CE4853987AF1AE9A8F759D-0000359217-0003054940-00500L-1622C61E44AE4F818C2AAA15C1D9D345.jpg

She can be found somewhere around Lough Derg! My sense of direction was going at that point so I cannot tell you exactly where :o , but isn't she lovely!

Could do with a bit less railings and a bit more bike in the photo, but she looks like a comfy tourer. If this is your bike, and looking at your log and the mileage you're putting in, if the funds become available, you should consider a road bike.

I think that's a flower pot stand :) maybe kerry4sam could take another photo next spring to confirm? Agree about the railings :)

Still enjoying this thread immensely. Please keep posting these lovely photos.

I took a few photos while doing one of my favourite climbs over here in Taipei at the weekend.

Still in the lowlands. A lot of farmland at this stage:

    Maokong-cycle-014.jpg

Every so often you come across these nice wee bridges, usually connecting a house to the road.

    Maokong-cycle-019.jpg

A lot of crappily-constructed shacks by the side of the road too, unfortunately:

    Maokong-cycle-021.jpg

And you occasionally come across a monastery too. This one's a Carmelite Monastery (if you zoom in you can see it written over the arch).

    Maokong-cycle-022.jpg

A lot of the views look like this though:

    Maokong-cycle-023.jpg

    Maokong-cycle-013.jpg

Near the highest part. Really starting to ramp up now.

    Maokong-cycle-030.jpg

    Maokong-cycle-026.jpg

Another view of that last one:

    Maokong-cycle-025.jpg

Not quite sure what this is, but it's very pretty. A lot of cars park here cos people come up and hike from here.

    Maokong-cycle-032.jpg

One of the many temples you'll see on any trip out:

    Maokong-cycle-001.jpg

There's a cable car up to the top of the mountain. Here's a photo from near the top, showing it, as well as the city centre in the background. You can see Taipei 101 down there, the tallest building in the world until a couple of years ago.

    Maokong-cycle-010.jpg

And here's me at the top. I swear I was trying to smile, but the sun was really making me squint.

Hard to follow some of the shots and locations in this thread;) Great stuff folks.

Nice morning today so I decided to take a different route to one of my more normal spins, I left the flatlands of the Curragh,

Wicklow Spin 11-11-1 by cilldara, on Flickr

and headed on through Kilcullen in the direction of Dunlavin

Wicklow Spin 11-11-2 by cilldara, on Flickr

From Dunlavin I headed to Hollywood and up the hill towards the Wicklow Gap,

Wicklow Spin 11-11-4 by cilldara, on Flickr

I didn't go all the way up though, turning instead for Valleymount and back towards the Lakes

Wicklow Spin 11-11-1-2 by cilldara, on Flickr

Nice colours to be seen on the road back to Blessington, even if this shot does them no justice.

Wicklow Spin 11-11-5 by cilldara, on Flickr

From there it was the drop back into Naas and the flat road home across the bog by Blacktrench and Clongorey.

    A very enjoyable day out.

Nice bikes alright, am toying with the idea of a steel framed SS hardtail 29er for a bit of offroad fun, having very recently built up an on-one pompino.

Yet another bike to add to my ever growing want list...

I'll never understand why there's so many cyclists on the Wexford ring roads, yet I never see any on Forth Moutain. It's beautiful, quiet, and the roads are decent. Why cycle around on the hard shoulder with HGVs whizzing past when you can have this all to yourself!

Apologies for not having my bike in the photo. It's the first time I've stopped on the bridge (East Link obviously). It shakes a lot when those big trucks pass over it. It was a bit windy too, so I didn't hang around!

Went yesterday. It's about 1.5hr drive from Phoenix. We parked at a shopping mall about 6km from the foot of the climb. It's not a difficult climb gradient-wise but it is about 50 kms of almost constant climbing. And it's steeper at the top, just when you want it to flatten out. Is it worth it? In retrospect yes, had you asked me during the spin I may have had a different answer.
