    Hi all,

    I placed a few ante post bets on the football around christmas using a bit of cash I won, with the aim of winning 50k on each bet.

    All but one of these have not worked out: stakes ranged from €150 to €300 and were three, four or five-fold accumulators.

    Some of the bets that didnt work out had for example Leeds and Bournemouth to win their leagues, Ibrahimovic to be top goalscorer in Spain, Marseille/Shaktar to win the Europa league etc.

    BUT one accumulator is pretty close to coming in with one weekend to go!

    It was as follows:

    €178 on: Stevenage to win the conference @ 7.5, Sheffield Wednesday to be relegated @ 5.0 and Nicky Maynard to be Top Goalscorer in the Championship @ 7.5. Total odds: 281.0

    Stevenage have already won the conference.
    Sheffield Wednesday have a relegation "all or nothing" match with Palace on Sunday - anything but a win and they will go down.
    Nicky Maynard is one goal behind Peter Whittingham in the top goalscorers chart with one game to play - away to Blackpool on the final day. Cardiff play Derby who have nothing to play for and are cr£p!

    I'm not really sure, why I'm posting this, just needed to tell someone as I didnt want to say anything to friends or family...

    Realisticly my best hope is to only win €25k as I can only see Maynard scoring a max of one goal which would tie him with Whittingham and that part of the bet being a dead heat.

    I hope the people of boards can will on Maynard and Crystal Palace on Sunday for me!!

    its an accu, you have 2 outstanding bets waiting...?

    how can you be guranteed 25k..

    I think s.wed can beat palace at home, full crowd of 40,000 or so and all that.

    I never said guaranteed! I dont think I'll win anything to be honest as I cant see Maynard outscoring Whittingham. Wednesday will go down I think though...

    Odds from 280 ish to about 10/1 isnt too bad, so I'm just hoping it come through for me. Will not lose sleep over it as I knew it was and still is a long shot...

    Not gonna lay anything on Betfair as I've not got sufficient cash to lay to secure a profit...

    He didn't say he was guaranteed 25k. He's assuming his best case scenario is Maynard getting joint top goalscorer hence halfing the goalscorer odds to 3.75.

    What price is Maynard on Betfair op? I'd definitely consider covering your stake with a lay.

    I really hope it works out for you. A fantastic gamble there.

    Thanks EGB - Maynard is 11/2 on Betfair, which would mean putting down a big wad of cash to lay him. i.e €5k to win less than a grand... I'd also have to lay Wednesday too. I'm just going to let it ride as expectations are low, but hopes are high!! Maynard has been banging them in this last month or so and Wednesday are rubbish at home.

    As Wednesday are not a cert I'd avoid the lay too. Otherwise I'd be laying all the way to the bank!

    Hope Maynard grabs a brace and lands you the full 50k!

    Whittingham has scored more goals away from than he has at home :(

    Blackpool have only conceded 4 goals in their last 7 home matches.

    In Bristol City's last 10 away matches they only netted 5 goals.

    Looks tough for you mate but wish you all the best with it. Anything can happen. Fingers crossed ;)

    Looks like Whittingham wont play on Sunday - Cardiff are "allowed" rest players as Derby have nothing to play for.

    No betting firm will include the play-offs.

    Top goalscorer markets are settled at the end of the regular season and not including the play-offs.

    I seriously doubt they do count the playoffs. Surely it's similar to the extra time scenario with the anytime goalscorer market? As is it doen't count

    why not have a look at the games on the day & if maynard scores in the first 20-30 minutes, lay sheff weds & if both bets still the same at that time, let it ride?

    could prob lay maynard & wed for 200 each to cover your initial stake?

    If I were you I'd be looking to lock in some profit at this stage; at least enough to cover your bets so far this year (sounds like you do some big accums).

    Don't forget, if your cash flow won't allow you lay a significant amount then you can always just back e.g. back Peter Whittingham for top goal scorer, back sheffield wed ftw and draw etc.

    either way, fingers crossed for ya fella.

    As a Championship follower I really cannot see Blackpool conceding two goals at Bloomfield Road but stranger things have happened.

    Perfect scenario for both of us, Maynard hattrick in a 4-3 win to Blackpool. Meaning 'Pool make the play-offs.

    Just checked and Sky are showing the Blackpool v Bristol C game live on Sunday!

    That will be torture...

    if ur goalscorer scores u would be mad if u didnt have a few grand in an account to back sheff wed imo.

    sheff wed are around 11/8 so if they were drawing at half time they would prob be about 7/4 or 15/8.

    3 grand at 15/8 if ur player gets a goal would be a smart move.

    There's some other striker on same goals as in 1 behind the top scorer, Andy Carroll is 3 behind top scorer hatrick for him aint out of the question, then Whitingham if playing could always score
    No way of laying it off unless you want get messy
