Travelled home from Galway earlier today, was in Galway till 3pm, the heat there today was crazy, it got to about 25C but it felt more like 30C with all that humidity and no breeze.

Got back to Dublin by 5.30pm and the temp difference between Galway and Dublin was massive, Dublin felt chilly in comparison and it was only 17c with fog rolling in. Back now in meath and it's certainly not as cold as Dublin was.

feeling cold here, hard to believe its 15c, the damp mist making it feel cold.
MetE says temperatures dropping back to 17-19c on Friday .... so roll on Friday - can't wait! :P

    Met Eireann 20:50 update:
    Today
Dense fog in the east, a few showers elsewhere but otherwise fine this evening.

    Tonight

Staying mild and close tonight with further fog. Temperatures not falling below 12 to 16 degrees.

    Tomorrow

Tomorrow, Thursday mist and fog will slowly clear in the morning with some hazy sunshine developing. It will be mostly dry with just the odd shower but towards evening cloud will thicken from the west with outbreaks of rain along western coastal counties later. Another warm day with temperatures of18 to 24 degrees in light south to southeasterly breezes.

14*C here in Meath. I feel much better now than I did in the last few days, probably won't need the fan on tonight. We got the house insulated during the winter and the heat builds up. I can't open my windows more than a few inches because my neighbour's cat always curiously jump in, so the last few nights have been pretty rough.

Can hear them here in Dublin 16!

Reckon it's a ship, or ships, at anchor in Dublin Bay.

Nothing gets the day off to a better start then waking up stuck to the bed and covered in a film of sweat, not to mention morning breath is 10 times worse!

Fog horns during fog.... Has the world gone mad?

by this time next week most places will struggle much past 15c during daytime, this weekend will be mild and showery but next week temps will lower even further. Hopefully we will see a return to warm, dry weather over the next 3 weeks.

The Met Eireann forecast for next week isn't as doom and gloom as it was previously. The warm weather is here until Saturday and even next week, although showery, is expected to still have warm sunny spells.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 17,945 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gonzo

yeah big improvement in next week's weather over what was forecast past few days, could still hit 20C most days but there will be showers about.

    Will take that !
All I want from any summer is it to be warm enough to wear shorts and tshirts most of the time !

I grew up with the old DL harbour Fog horns. They were kind of nice and comforting. The ones last night (which I guess are on ships) had a really annoying pitch.
