I mean, would ya ever fúck off with this sort of stupid sentencing

    http://www.rte.ie/news/2016/0607/793928-rape/
Justice McCarthy sentenced the defendant to three years for the offences on each victim to run consecutively and ordered he undergoes five years post-release supervision and undertake sexual offenders therapeutic courses.

I don't think this is the last we'll hear of this rapist unfortunately

It would be if he got the chop.

Out in four years for raping two kids....WTF

Would the judge be satisfied with that if it was his own kid that was attacked

Was he a star athlete or something? That's the sort of sentence they get in America so it is.

I don't think there is any need to allow this individual to continue to be a burden on society

He had probably reached a point in his life where he had accepted the fact that he has to address his rapacious nature and the judge ordered him to attend a "how to make it through the days without raping any kids" class and will be ordered to nod at any members of an garda siochana he may see whilst out and about for a period of several weeks.

The judge should get 6 years too. What planet is he on?

Absolutely sickening read, those poor kids.

Hopefully the leniency [of the sentence] will be appealed by the DPP ~ an all too regular occurrence these days.

The planet where people with previous convictions in triple figures (bear in mind those are only the things they have been caught and prosecuted for) get suspected sentences for violent crimes.

When are we finally going to give up on the lefty myth of "rehabilitation" and start locking up broken members of society to keep them from doing harm to the rest of us?

    Wait wait wait....

He went to the Garda station and admitted raping the boy twice.

Yet a few months later. He raped the girl.

WHY WAS HE NOT IN ****ING PRISON THE FIRST TIME????

Be cheaper to nip to the hardware store for a length of rope.

I'm surprised the judge didnt sentence the victims.
    Perhaps he did.

Welcome to Ireland. Where not paying the correct tax on garlic gets you more time than repeated child rape.

I'm fcuking disgusted with our judicial system sometimes!

This is so sickening. Forced castration and a weekly kicking would not be good enough for him.

There was another grossly lenient sentence for a somewhat similar crime the other day for a guy who (when he was in his 40's) raped his two step sons hundreds of times from the ages of nine and also made them have sex with each other.

    http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/courts/some-people-had-cereal-for-breakfast-i-seemed-to-be-molested-man-raped-stepsons-and-made-them-commit-incest-with-each-other-jailed-for-14-years-34770307.html

Lenient in my view at least, considering the sheer number of incidents.

As you raise it, should he have been castrated when he was 15 after he committed the first rape?

    Jesus .. he's only 18 - he'll be out by the time he's 22/23 ...

    That's a guaranteed re offender.

Well done Judge McCarthy, sleep well tonight.

Since when did castration prevent a re-occurrence of sexual assault?

Defence counsel Brendan Grehan SC, said his client was 15 years old when he
began offending. He has no previous convictions and has since attempted to take
his own life as a result of his shame and disgust

Hopefully he'll have better luck next time, scumbag.

We could cut off his arms too?

I'm no expert, but I'd imagine it would slash reoffending rates quite significantly.

****ing disgusting. Three years per child? Their childhood/innocence/mental health as they know it is gone. Yet the rapist who destroys them will walk at 23. Justice, eh.

Very hard not to believe some of these Judges are Nonce sympathizers

A rapists name can only be made public if they are convicted.
Yet the disgusting thing is that this will only be done if the victims waive their right to anonymity.
I can't get my head around that.

Saudi Arabia might be a horrible place for a variety of reasons but i completely agree with the whole 'beheading' aspect.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,417 ✭✭✭✭vicwatson

Maybe forget all the hanging, castration, beheading suggestions (though I'm not totally against some type of corporal punishment), but give the fúcker 20 years imprisonment at least, protect society for longer than 6 poxy years.

A signal needs to be sent to these nonces, and I've yet to see a judge sending these signals.

With remission the sentence can be reduced by 25-33% so it's not like he's even going to spend 6 years inside.

To be honest, I'm surprised the judge applied consecutive and not concurrent sentences as often happens.

I really hope the DPP will successfully appeal the leniency of these sentences.

Our justice system has been broken for quite some time.

    Sickening.
