Ford Focus - new engine or scrap?

Hi, My 05 Focus 1.6 petrol broke down the other day (ran out of oil) and the engine needs replacing. Had to get it towed away (100e) and now they say its 1000e to get it fixed (a second hand engine and labour). I'd have valued the car around 2500e before it had broken down so my question is should I just scrap it…

It's only worth €150-€200 to a scrapper. Break it yourself and have your head melted with idiots on dung deal. I would stick an engine into it.

Thanks...I'll probably get it fixed and NCT'd (that's also due) but sell it on then as I won't be using it much over the next while.

Slightly off subject .

Why are people so hard on done deal . I've bought my last 3 cars and sold about same, sold my bike .... And on and on .
Found it to be a great site and never had a problem.. Maybe I'm lucky .

My thought on car would be if ur going to fix it , then keep it a couple of years , get some value out of your 1000 bucks
