Plenty of this yesterday and today .. and tomorrow and Monday by the looks of it. Should have 200 bales in by then. Never realised the exhaust pipe was such an obstruction until this photo.

Farmer bought calves from a dealer in early Feb, Part of the deal was that they would be vaccinated (for I dont know what) dehorned and replace any calf that died. They were from multiple farms and 1 calf died soon enough on arrival. 1died a while after and another will probably die, they were a poorly group of calves. Ended up buyer dehorned calves himself and dealer fecked him around. So he is out a large vet bill, wasnt given a calf in replacement of first dead animal and dealer is being a prick....................that is the question answer is alot longer

Daisy (not F&F Daisy) had a bull calf (RHS) this afternoon. Hardly had a chance to look at him since as I was flat out tilling & rolling feckin bird seed.

my son was helping a contractor for a few hours yesterday & the other guys warned him that the fellow they going to was literally a pita for asking questions & that they usually pump him with lies,

in for grub & he starts,

    "your're young ##### from over ##### way? "
    "yep"

    "are ye still milking ?"
    "yep"

    "milking many this year?"
"last 1 calved early april, they're all milking now"

    "ye still have the sheep?"
    "yep"

    "lamb down many this year?"
"7 empty all the others lambed"

he quickly moved on to interrogate the next victim

(BTW, junior takes after his mother )

Noticed some of the furze bushes are dying, must be from drought. They had been in flower. First fox glove of the year picked here today

I'm in a boat on a lake. This seemed like a great idea last night.

Learnt a good lesson this evening. Don't bring out a piece of machinery not used in 12 months without oiling and greasing in advance !
Off I went with the topper shur wasn't the drive shaft seized and I couldn't open it out.Got my pint of tractor oil and persisted for half an hour running it over the knuckles and down inside the shaft. Result anyway got it freed out and got 2 acres of rough ground cleaned off.
    Happy out now

Started out in second but thought she was under a bit of pressure especially with some heavier rushes so dropped back to first and kept the trottle a bit stronger and went the finest. As the saying goes "nice and easy does it"

Next time get a strap or 2/rope. Take off the shaft. Tie both ends to something solid with the above the gently tighten on the strap until it pulls free. Guess a Hayes wire strayer could be used also.

We always remove and store the shafts (tractor end) in the old dairy over the winter. If you have several implements then add a label to identify which shaft belongs to which implement. Liberally coat the male part with grease and use it to lubricate the female part before storing the male half iykyim.

Was chatting a neighbour this morning. He, along with a bunch of other blokes went deep sea fishing over the weekend.
Everyone was pretty ok, except one lad who was violently seasick the entire time.
He puked till there was nothing left, then puked some more. .
Hanging over the railing, exhausted, and the Skipper asked him, "you're pretty ill; did you throw up a brown thing yet?"
"No" says her man, "I didn't, what would that be?"
"That'd be your ar*e hole" says the Skipper !
