Apple cider vinegar and hair

Okay so I've heard that using apple cider vinegar in your hair can be good for brightening up highlights, but I've no idea how to use it. Has anyone here ever used it on their hair? Any thoughts? Does it go on before you wash your hair or mid wash?

My mam used to do this when I was younger, although not for highlights.

Apparently its good for getting rid of any product build up and makes hair more shiny. I suppose this in itself would may your highlights look better.

She used to use an egg cup amount just before the final rinse, so after you've washed your conditioner out and maybe about 1 minute before turn off the water.
