Depends on what your choices are and what the qualifying score was last year.

How do you check the qualifying score last year for the different places?

Happy i passed! But only got 160 it wont be enough. Good luck to everyone
I got 156 last year and got offered intellectual disability nursing and 160 last year got mental health nursing there are post grad courses you could do after these like children's nursing if that is what you would like to do or after your degree you can go to Scotland and do a 18 month course and be a reg gen nurse change of mind doesn't close until July so weigh up your options

Based on last year you would get general mental health and intellectual disability nursing in most colleges it's a really good score well done x

I have Tralee down for first choice it says 162 and 170 mid for last year! Does that mean then I have a good chance with 186.. I also read that we can't go off last years as it was based on scores of 240 and this year is based off 215.. If that's true then hat would be better? I think?

  • Registered Users Posts: 30 nelly84

Was 240 not the max score you could get and 215 was the highest Mark that was achieved this year?that's how I read it anyway.but I'd say if you got 186 you should defo get your place.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18 cazrach

Yeah 240 is overall score highest score alone got this year is 215 lowest 135 last years highest was 204 and lowest was 132

Since the points are out of 240, wouldn't that mean those offered places are going to be way lower?

See yeah ppl are saying that it is out of 240 aswell this year but is it out of 215 bcos that was the highest or is it out of the 24o am so confused over this 🀔

  • Registered Users Posts: 30 nelly84

As far as I know the only score that really matters is what you got and compare that to last year's points like in the Leaving cert if nobody got 100% in a subject and the highest Mark was 80% they wouldn't mark it out of 80% and allocate the points accordingly.

Basically the top marks that anyone could get was 240.the highest Mark achieved was 214? It's still marked out of 240.

Sorry if I'm confusing it more.I'm just comparing my mark against last year's points

Do you know how many people were sitting the test last year and how many of them actually passed the minimum?

You could do intellectual disability nursing? I work in that field it's very rewarding and you can post grad into children's nursing afterwards?

I would utilize your change of mind form. You may still get something, but look up what the points were for your 1st choice last year, you never know you might get a lower points course such as ID nursing?

looking at the points from last year, i say it is looking good for you.

    congratulations

Do you need those points to have a chance of getting a place? Can you be offered a place if you are few points short? I got 164, is there any chance i would get mental health in UL now?

We don't know what the points are this year until the offers are out so it could be lowered to around 164.

I've been a nursing for 26 years now and I wouldn't do anything else.
It's challenging, tiring, infuriating, but incredibly rewarding.
I'm a CNM2 in Intellectual Disability, specialising in persons with challenging behaviour, and I love my job.
Anyone with the constitution to become a nurse is a person apart from the flock and is in for an interesting career!
