Any thoughts on IKEA mattresses - I'm told the mattresses arrive rolled up tightly, doesn't this affect them - how can they be as good as a sprung mattress that you buy in an "unrolled up" state?

Bought the Hamarvik last week and so far so good. I was sceptical at first so opted for the middle of the road to cheap mattress.

I left it for 24 hours before sleeping on it and it has been comfortable so far.

I can't comment on getting one unrolled but I presume they are packaged like that at manufacturer.

Its foam versus springs, different technology and like most things, you don't get what you don't pay for

I have both, the ikea ones are good for the young grandkids when they come stay, as you can take off the covers to wash them and its easy to put the heavy duty plastic inside.
What I do when I first take off the covers for washing is trim a bit off the length to make it easier to put cover back, it goes back easy if you roll the cover back on like that thing found on the end of a pencil.

Have slept on (long and short term) and bought for my own house several IKEA mattresses. No complaints, in fact they're very comfortable. My Dad, who has back problems, was impressed with our IKEA mattress too!

Come rolled up and you just leave them a certain amount of time before using. No issues.
