I don't think it matters where you are based for the at home jobs.

Id say it does,do you know anything about the college positions.

I applied when I saw a position for County Galway, but others have said they applied for positions regardless of location. I did an interview for the college job last week. Not sure if there is still time to apply. Check Apple's job site or indeed.ie

Anyone that's cleared the background check heard back from them this week? It's been 3 weeks now and was told I should have an update this week.

Nice one! I'm guessing you took it? No word for me this week, they're taking their sweet time. I'm hoping next week !

No college programme for me :) Yeah, I'm delighted. I applied two years ago and was unsuccessful, second time lucky! Has anyone received their equipment yet? I just had to confirm details yesterday after the phone call, name and address etc for the contracts and equipment to be sent out. My friend who works there said it took them about a week to send it all out.

If I remember correctly she said it would be one or two weeks before the start. I'll have to sort out my own stuff anyway - desk, chair and hardwire lan connection.

Ah, fair enough. Luckily I managed to get myself a fairly awesome ergonomic chair for free and making a trip to Ikea in the next couple of weeks to get a suitable desk. I've just purchased two powerline ethernet adapters off Amazon ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-LINK-AV500-Powerline-Adapter-Starter/dp/B0084Y9N3O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464346583&sr=8-1&keywords=powerline+ethernet+adapter ) for anyone else that's in need of them. Cheapest I could find. My friend did say he had two desks from Ikea that were suitable and are only about €16 each, ADILS/LINMON 100x60cm if that's of any use to anyone.

I'll probably get the Ikea desk too, if I can get a good delivery quote.

Are you sure about the powerline adapters? My interviewer said the are not acceptable. I think somebody upthread did mention that he uses them for the job though.

Can't go wrong at that price! I'm not sure, two of my friends who work for Apple have said they use them without problems. I'll be working from the bedroom, so it's either that or an extremely long ethernet cable, which I just so happen to have but would rather not have to pin all around the house :P:pac: I'm still waiting up for a follow up email regarding contracts and paperwork etc.

Just checking the Furniture Criteria pdf, it says
"The desk should be greater than 75 x 75 cm in width and depth."
I thought I read somewhere else that it had to be 180cm x 80cm?
Maybe that was an older rule. 75 x 75 seems very small.

That Ikea one which is 150x75cm for €40 is probably the one I'll end up going for.

I'd try Ikea myself but looks like delivery to Waterford would be 120 quid on top of the price. Might try Argos/Adverts/Donedeal see if I get a bargain. Did any of you guys ask about the Apple discount at all ? I know there's one but haven't seen any definite percentages anywhere

Think it's 27% for yourself, 17% for friends and a discount of a few hundred euro off every 3 years. Refer a friend to them and if they get hired you get a substantial bonus.

See if you can find some One Man and His Van type down in Waterford. I got a quote of €35 to delivery to Galway.

By initial phone call, do you mean a phone interview?

If it was a phone interview, did the interviewer say to you she was putting you through to the next stage/skype interview? I got an e-mail within a couple of hours of the phone interview asking me to confirm my availability for the skype interview,..but having spoken to a couple of people who have applied it seems that the process differed from person to person.

    Well maybe yeah

I was told at the end of the phone interview that I would be put through to the technical test, but nothing about the Skype interview until I had passed it. They might vary the method a bit depending on the interviewee / interviewer.
