Buying a used RX8

I'm considering buying a used RX8, preferably 06 231onwards if possible. I've done a fair amount of reading on these so I'm well versed on maintenance, cost of fuel, potential rust issues etc. What concerns me is (my assumption) that a fair number of them have not been cared for to the extent that the Renesis requires and thus will end up with issues to the seals and eventual premature rebuild.

Now if and when the time comes I would not part cash until a compression test is carried out but if I could get any more advice as to how I can avoid potential headaches beyond doing the test, it would be most appreciated.

If I had to do it all over again I would just buy the cleanest one you can find with or without engine issues as cheaply as possible. And just bring it to Shadow Rotary or somewhere to get it rebuilt

Agree 100%. Get the electrics, interior, condition that you want and let Eoin and the lads sort out the engine and internal workings! Join the Irish Rotary forum and also the group on FB. There is a dead engines RX8 for about €700 with perfect interior and sunroof and I'm sure with a bit of love would be back on the road in no time. I've got a 2004 231 with the factory Aero kit and I wouldn't trade it for anything else at the price range!
