Hi guys part of my job is to ring up and get business to pay debts that they owe , we do credit control for other companies anyways this week I 've pulled in over 24 grand worth of debt , my company hasn't pulled this much in over a year , it seems I'm good at it . I'm just thinking maybe in a few months time should I ask about being on a commission for doing this or is this stupid thanks

Are you not just doing the job you are being paid to do?

And what makes you good at it? It might be just dumb luck and you've been getting lucky clients. No reason they need to pay you extra to be honest

You might be getting lucky and may have been given softer touch clients. See what your hit rate is like over a couple of months and if it's still high perhaps sales may be a gift of yours. At that point if you are enjoying that part of your job you have a reason to bring up a discussion on it.

As regards the "softer touch clients" angle, a viewing of Glengarry Glen Ross might be a good idea.

That's about sales, but the principle is the same.

If you think you can point to a proven track record over a period of time, and show that its an improvement in results related to your performance, then you can build a case and bring it to your boss. He may tell you yes, no, or maybe meet you in the middle. If you have a good relationship with him/her Im sure there is no harm in asking

Any chance of a synopsis? :)

Yes you should ask for commission, surprised there not already paying some kind of bonus. I'd ask on Monday rather than in a few months.
When you say debt though how old was it? If it's just credit control it would't be much of a win as the debt would be paid anyway.

And OP is right watch Glengarry Glen Ross then watch Boiler Room. You might make a good sales person yet. Don't be afraid to get some training in it.

Sales and debt collection are the same thing really - the art of persuasion and cutting deals.

Going by your other posts, you're only in the door of your current workplace a wet week. Are you on probation at the moment?

........ this week I 've pulled in over 24 grand worth of debt , my company hasn't pulled this much in over a year .......

€24k as a figure is meaningless enough, was that 2 calls from 3 or 78 calls from 100 or 1 from 5.
