First off no way in hell would I give some random guy on eBay my log in details. Secondly, I'd avoid buying anything for a while and try and transfer back to EU store. There is a chance Steam will ban your account. They'd probably view this as similar to using a VPN to get games cheaper which they don't like at all.

If u can't trust Russians selling cheap games, who can you trust?
Guy had 9000 items sold and 99% feedback so I was willing to risk it.
Think I'll leave it a few days and see how everything goes before buying a new game.
On the possible ban, I read on Steams own support pages about changing the country when travelling and its all fine so I'm not worried about that

Yeah but your store region is showing as Russian and your IP is showing as being in Ireland (or whereever it is you are). If they check your login history it'll show you as being in Ireland, then Russia for a few hours then back in Ireland again. Not really indicative of someone travelling and more like someone using a VPN or getting a friend to log them in for cheap games. Plus, Steam are really strict around games from Russia because of how crap the rouble is. If your location was set to some other region like US or Eastern Europe then they might not monitor it as much or give a shít about it but with Russia I'd be a lot more wary.

Giving someone a password for my steam account...... No way. Even though I have steamguard I still wouldn't.

Do you know how Gifts work? At no point did he need your login. You recveive an email with a link (see image) and you click on it.

Absolute madness giving your account to someone over ebay.

You should check the email account is still yours, turn on 2 step verification and also check that your account is not shared with anyone else.

Might want to check your inventory too.

Russian games are region locked so he couldn't just send it as a gift. The seller would have to log into the account and buy it on the Steam store. Very risky even without getting your account stolen.

It was a steam gift, when I logged back into my account it said I had received a gift. That's why I posted this info in the Steam Gifts thread. But guest that's irrelevant now that my post has been deleted.
I'm not suggesting anyone do it, that's for people to decide for themselves.

Not sure. I only got a PC last week so not totally sure how it works.
Other option instead of sending account details was to have him send me login details for a new steam account with the game on it but I wanted it on my own account and not have to use the family sharing feature.

This thread is for the website SteamGifts where people can giveaway games. It's not really for discussing of gifts in your steam inventory.

Congrats to Deadeyedave, I have sent the key from the SG site, I presume that's enough for you to get it. This is a pretty neat system, in fairness. I must go through my Humble Bundle leftovers for some more gifts.
