F**k it anyway. That has to be it. Hibs deserved it to be fair to them. Thought we were going to control the game after 2-1 but we haven't played well for the majority of the game.

The only thing I would be nervous about if I was a Rangers supporter is being "that team" Hibs beat if we finally found holy grail.

Anyway best of luck Saturday lads, but if ye had any good in ye, ye let us win ;)

See, we let you win, because we're such nice chaps ;)

    Totally deserved, enjoy.

Rangers players and Weir attacked by Hibs scum.
As typical it will be our fault though.

    http://rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/rangers-statement-2/
RANGERS Football Club is shocked at the disgraceful behaviour of Hibs fans at full time.

Rangers players and staff were assaulted by these fans who invaded the pitch and in the interests of their safety could not return to the pitch for the medal presentation.

There can be no place for the violent behaviour witnessed at the end of the Final and Rangers fully expect the Scottish Football Association and Police Scotland to launch an investigation to find out where security measures failed.

The Club would like to commend Rangers fans for the restraint they showed under severe provocation.

Couldn't just let them enjoy their win?.... You can't deny its plain to see your fans on the pitch engaging in violence.
There's a lot to be said that Hibs fans or any winners have no business invading the field, though I disagree. But 100% there was no need for any of the losing side fans to be down there... They went down looking for trouble.

Attacking Rangers players and then heading to the Rangers end clearly looking for trouble (and this was before Rangers fans came on the pitch), but true to form you still find a way to blame Rangers.

Same as the old Rangers, always playing the victim

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

The only footage I've seen shows both sets of fans going at it.

Poor show from Rangers releasing a statement commending their fans when they were involved as well.

    Hope all involved are punished.

Then you didn't read the statement correctly. They said they commended the fans for showing restraint, I highly doubt they meant those that came on the pitch but the thousand other ones who stayed in their seats (or left).

I don't think anyone is denying some Rangers fans were involved, but it's clear that they only came on after our players got attacked and after some Hibs fans ran towards the Rangers end looking for trouble.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

They completely ignored the Rangers fans that didn't show restraint though, that's the problem. Would it really have been so difficult to change to wording to condemn all fans involved in violence? Instead they had a go at hibs fans while glossing over the fact others were involved.

I'm not defending the Hibs fans involved, it was disgraceful behaviour. People from both sides were looking for trouble though.

Probably because it was Hibs fans that started everything.

Did you see what happened at the end of the game? Hibs fans invaded the pitch, they attacked some of our players and they went down to the Rangers end to try and stir up trouble. It is a very strange way to behave for a group of supporters who have just ended an incredibly long wait for a cup triumph. A small minority of our fans did come onto the pitch, which is disappointing but I am amazed that people are trying to lay the blame at our door for this incident.

I'm not. It's the way of things now, even if none of our fans had come on the pitch some sad specimens would have likely found a way to blame the players or staff in some way.

Pictures on twitter now where is clear that Wallace got hit on the side of the head.

Surely a lot of blame lies with the police.

I mean, it's a Cup Final. There will be one winner. The clubs are Hibs and Rangers, they don't like each other. One hadn't won it since the ice age and the other has returned from the dead, it was a huge day. The fans can access the pitch. You wouldn't need a phd to figure out one group would run to the opposition end to gloat.

    True as well.

Someone I know that was there said while fans were leaving police were running up the same exit stairs trying to get on the pitch. That's some horrible organisation.

Police currently corralling a mob of some 200 odd riotous blue fans around the east end....
I'd say that'll be Hibs fault.

Hibs fans must have broken away from their coaches on the M8 to double back and goad the Rangers fans from the Gallowgate hence their attacks on everything non Rangers

    Jesus.

    That's Keystone Kops stuff.

I can't pretend to be a huge fan of Scottish football. But there are any number of games involving either Glasgow club, either Edinburgh club, and a few others like Aberdeen that the dogs on the street know have the potential for trouble. This wasn't Raith v Inverness. It was a game loaded with history and meaning for both clubs, there would be one big winner... and they allow fans onto the pitch...

Disgraceful. It's a good job they only win the cup once every hundred years. It should be possible to find out who these people are and issue them with lifetime bans.

Lads, any thoughts on Martin Bain? He has been appointed CEO at Sunderland and was obviously with yourselves for quite some time.

    Poor Sunderland.

Bain is useless. Was never capable of selling on players it seemed, and if he did it was pretty much always for less than they were bought. When players were bought it was often for more than they were worth and when wages were involved it was the same story.

He also alledgedly gave himself result based bonuses that were normally only reserved for the players.

I think he should be banned from any role in football. He's one of the chief architects in Rangers liquidation. His only only saving grace is incompetence. For that reason he doesnt have a criminal conviction because nobody thinks he's any way smart. Surely Sundeland done a background check or at least googled his name?!

Probably the same background check and google search done when Craig Whyte rescued Rangers from Murray

How so? Genuine question as I know very little about him or his role in Rangers' downfall. Did he not resign in 2011 and recommend that Whyte wasn't allowed to buy the club?

Either way, Sunderland making a bollocks of a recruiting decision would hardly be a surprise. :pac:

Their collapse was happening long before Whyte put the final nails in. Under his guidance, the operated in a way that satisfied governance metrics but was essentially asset stripping. SFA did as their name suggests and a club that couldnt fail, did

Id be protesting his appointment if i was you. Im not exaggerating and im a celtic fan!

Amazed that a club like Sunderland would even consider having anything to do with Martin Bain. Given the scandalously high amounts that PL players go for these days, he'll end up costing you a small fortune.

Looks like the Rangers "statement" is coming in for the ridicule it deserves worldwide. Joe.ie called if farcical and I've seen one of the US ESPN analysts on Twitter state that "it's hard to believe that it was written by a grown up".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

Nobody at Rangers gives a **** what joe.ie (might as well quote Buzzfeed) or anyone outside the club thinks.

You lot are more interested in blaming Rangers fans for what happened, your opinion counts for nothing.

    http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/every-rangers-player-pitch-attacked-8028393#26DOv8DAdeG58pcL.97

But hey, best worry about a statement rightfully calling out all the hacks and fans of other clubs and every other idiot with a keyboard out there. I mean, how dare a club take on lies, right ?

When Lennon got attacked the whole country (rightfully) was up in arms. Now you have several players attacked but let's downplay it, it's only the big bad Ranjurs after all.

If you try to downplay this you're a cretin, nothing more.

On the first point, Jackson has been shown up on that already. He'd literally posted his fake story when Laura Miller came out on Twitter and asked people to stop making up lies as Kenny was not attacked, or spat at, or involved in any trouble and that the players are annoyed at people making up stories about what happened.

On your second point (Lennon) didn't the same journalist who printed the false story above state that Lennon "brought it on himself"??
