Is it good? Pros/cons if you have any please.

There are some mixed reviews at the bottom of the amazon page.
Probably work out about €20 delivered using parcel motel.
An option would be to buy to collect from Micksgarage but ask about returns\refund if quality is not up to much.

Anybody know if theres a way to stop radio interference from the charger? I picked up a 30 euro job mentioned earlier in the thread and it seems when i plug in the charger it causes radio interference. Particularly when im in an area with trees and that. Is it the camera itself or the charger that does it? I have yhe camera mounted just next to the mirror cause it blocks the sensor when its behind it. The radio antenna is above the mirror on the roof... am i forced to move it to the corner of the windscreen?

looking to get a dashcam professionally fitted and wired up. But curious as to how they would do this? I'm afraid they would be tearing the roof fabric down and making marks etc.

How abouts do they do this without a big wire going around the windscreen into the cigarette charger?

also my current dashcam is in bits. it hardly records anymore, frequently cuts out, and just has a mind of its own. It's hard to know if its actually recording or not. I imagine this would be a problem if I got a pro one fitted and 3 years down the line i don't know what its doing.

The same thing plenty of non-professionals have done.

Tuck wire behind headliner above windscreen, route down A pillar, behind dashboard to fusebox, use add-a-fuse gadget or spare fuse socket to wire to + and earth to car body for -.

If you don't feel comfortable doing that yourself get a pro to do it.

The wire will most likely be a mini-usb or micro usb connector so can be used with a different dashcam in future. mini-micro adaptors are available if necessary.

There are plenty of youtube clips showing how to wire a dashcam, google them and have a look for yourself.

fair enough, its just a new car so i want it to be extremely tidy and not messy and taped around the windscreen/pillar lol!

Bought this not even 2 weeks ago now, and the memory card failed over the weekend. It wasn't recording for a couple of days, and it was only when my girlfriend was in the passenger seat and saw the screen complaining about no card inserted did I root cause and fix it.

    http://www.halfords.ie/technology/dash-cams/dash-cams/transcend-drivepro-220-dash-cam

Seemingly I'm not the first to have this issue with this camera, after swapping the card for a spare I had lying around all was well. What's weird is that I thought Transcend's main business was in making memory and memory cards. I'm tempted to bring the cam back to halfords to see what they'll do for me... but I doubt they'll just hand me a new memory card, they'd most likely want to just replace the whole camera.

Really? Can't say I've had mine out of the car again to take a look at footage. How did Techmoan get such good results with his? He had me convinced (through his website) that it was the best available.

I need to stick a suction plate disc to our dash for a satnav.
The glue that came with the original disc didn't perform great in direct sunlight in hot conditions.
Has anyone found an effective glue that won't damage the dash whenever I need to take it off?

Do you have the standard airbox too? might be worth mentioning in the ad if you do.

Anyone got any tips on how to get the camera to stop focusing on the windscreen?

It seems that any time it rains it auto focuses to the droplets and the actual traffic is all blurry.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,682 ✭✭✭frozenfrozen

best bet is to just put it closer to the windscreen until it can't see the droplets anymore and they're too close to focus on

Which camera is it? Normally dashcam have fixed focus so that they always focus on things far away (beyond windscreen distance at least).

Can you disable auto-focus on the camera?

I've come to the conclusion that the video quality of the Xaomi Yi Dashcam sucks balls. It's not even close to being on par with a 3 year old GoPro.

Have you tried updating the firmware yet? May help things out

    Link to firmware - http://www.yitechnology.com/firmware_en.php

This is for the international/US Version

Did a quick search but nothing came up so hope I am not treading old ground here...
I have an Android head unit with spare USB ports. I want to pick up a USB dashcam. Any recommendations?
I thinking of buying this one but not sure how I'll mount it...
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/170degree-camera-Fisheye-Resolution-module/dp/B015PCAVZG
There is only two reviews there but one of them used it as a dashcam and said it worked great. Plenty of good reviews on the US Amazon.

I've already run a very quick test with just a generic USB web cam and it technically worked. Obviously had issues with resolution and angle of view.

For those interested, I have this Eonon.

My late fathers 525 for sale. It was at a few meet ups a couple of years ago.

Peach of a car that's done **** all miles, only needs a rear brake light bulb, left side front wiper and wiper washer motor for the NCT.

I'll do a good deal for a boardsie. I'd really love to see someone who loves their E39s take it. I'd keep it up but cheapest insurance quote was 2100 :(

    Hi,

I'm looking for a dash cam with a capacitor instead of a battery because of the high heat here in Florida. The camera also has to be able to mount on an almost completely vertical windsheld (Isuzu NPR). I had a G1W before but the bracket that came with it was designed for a sloped windshield and was next to useless.

Can someone advise which of the Halfords dash-cams would be best buy -

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,350 ✭✭✭Cortina_MK_IV

I bought a Nextbase 202 for €64 reduced from €99. I had it fitted by them too and I'm very happy to have it there. That cam is down now to €54 and at that price I think it's a great buy. Also it's little brother the 101 is down to €50 but I'd still choose the 202.

    P.S, above from Halford's.

There seems to be only one dashcam with built-in wifi - its 100 euro Halfords .
All of them seem to have the micro SD which I dont actually like - I prefer the full SD .

Pity the others dont have wi-fi - anyway will probably buy the 212

The 202 has very good daytime quality. Night time isn't fantastic, but it would show a bit. It's a good value unit to be fair. Have had it 6 months and thankfully have only reviewed footage once
