He wasn't on the list of 7 invites issued this week but surely now he will be

You would imagine there are more sponsors invites around. It was some achievement to win today. Very tough standard on the Web tour and a local player was leading or thereabouts all day. Smylie Kaufman won that tournament last year

Saw his interview on the PGA Tour website. Seems like a nice lad. What's his background?

Small bit of back ground from his club West Waterford.

Rickie Fowler blows it again, he must have some scar tissue from Phoenix.

Felt sorry for Castro losing that last night. Just shows how hard it is to keep the nerve.

With the players coming up, figured this is an appropriate clip:

Lots of low scores being put together by the early starters. Scoring looks like it will be low.

Lowry started birdie eagle birdie for his back 9 and sits at 4 under thru 12

    Shane now -5

    Shane now -5

Finished -7. Sensational back 9; an eagle and five birdies after a level par opening nine.

Positively conservative compared to Fowler. Don't think Rory looks too bad actually.

DJ a bit of a pr1ck there hitting at the crowd on purpose. Shouldn't be allowed.

He was at edge of bunker, had to play towards crowd so took some time to move them. He then hit it fairly unannounced with people moving a bit.

    Commentators said he apologised.

McIlroy has played some dreadful shots, his wedge play is shockingly poor. At the moment, he is not in a mile of Day

You could hear him sarcastically thanking them on the mic.

Must be very frustrating having to deal with some spectators at times. Even when the marshals ask them to move they just stand there mouths agape at times. Not to mention "mashed potatoes".

Didn't see it but it might serve him good in the long run." Dj's hitting guys, stand well back!"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,993 ✭✭✭Russman

DJ was a bit out of line alright, definitely should have waited, but from the moment he got into the bunker it was beyond obvious that the only place he could splash it out to was where the crowd were, and after all his looking and considering and walking around they still weren't moving back or even pretending to move back. Poor marshalling and poor crowd behaviour too IMO.

On another note, I sort of want a pair of those shoes Ricky had, I think there might be something wrong with me :).
I can imagine standing on the first tee on a January morning in Ireland, rain pounding, gales howling, with those on and flanking one out of bounds !!:D:D:D

Fully expected a double but he closed out from inside 10 feet for bogey. Which is positive!
