Ebookers flights advice please

    Hiya looking at booking flights to Lanzarote through ebookers...flight home has stop in Madrid for 1hr55mins to change planes, does anyone know if the baggage is transferred directly from one plane to the other?

    Is ebookers ok to travel with?

    ebookers are not an airline.

    IF it's all booked on the one ticket and is a true connection, 1hr 55 mins should be ok provided the first flight is on time. Bags will be tagged through and you just need to change gates and possibly re-clear security.

    I've just made a booking from Dublin to Melbourne with eBookers, and hadn't thought about transfer times. The flights are Dublin - Heathrow with Aer Lingus and then Heathrow to Melbourne via Kuala Lumpur with Malaysia Airlines. The transfer time in Heathrow is 2h 25mins outbound and 1h 25mins on the return journey...Heathrow's website says 90 mins is needed to make the transfer (Terminal 2 to Terminal 4) but I've heard Heathrow is pretty hectic so I'm worried now!

    How can I tell that it's all booked on one ticket and the bags will be transferred between the flights? My ebookers email only has one ticket number listed on it (eticket). And if I do miss a flight (mainly concerned about the return Heathrow-Dublin flight) due to airport congestion or a delayed flight I assume I can be put on a later flight and I could claim back on travel insurance?

    Sorry- I've never booked connecting flights before! :o

    if you cannot trust ebookers (part of expedia with sales of 5billion euro, 18000 employees, which is a different scale to the fly by night greek or spanish websites) then you cannot trust e-commerce at all .

    regarding the other flight via heathrow, if the flights are on the same ticket then they will look after you if you miss the connection. Theres heaps of flights from Heathrow to Dublin so it shouldnt be a problem

    Book directly with the airline. Either Iberia via Madrid (which is probably the option you're looking at) or Vueling via Barcelona.

    It's much easier to deal directly with the airline in case something goes wrong.

    problem is that at peak travel times for longer routes it may be cheaper to travel with a connection somewhere en route, and thats where the travel agents / online agencies come in.

    Even for a direct flight from Munich-Dublin I ended up getting a cheaper price with opodo (an agency owned by the airlines themselves) than from Lufthansa direct, or what Aerlingus were offering.
    You can also get combinations of airlines for a return journey unbelievably cheaper than buying singles, as some airlines still charge a clean fortune for one way flights (e.g. lufthansa will charge €600 one way for many routes, but say only €200 return) and are much cheaper as part of a return bought from a travel agent even if the other leg is with a different airline.
