First album I ever bought was "brothers in arms"

Was really into them at the time, bought most,if not all of their albums,
    rarely listen to them now.
    :)

I never liked them over all as a band. But when they did a song well - they were incredible. Sultans of Swing was a near perfect song as it goes. Brothers in Arms a decent tear jerker. And back when we made mix tapes for each other of our favorite music - Romeo and Juliet would invariably show up in my selection regardless of whether I was taping onto a full length 90 minute tape - or the more limited 60 minute tape.

But similarly when they were bad they were awful. And unfortunately that was generally over 60% of every album.

I still can't get my head around the fact that they're not American.

For some reason I grew up assuming that they were, and only discovered otherwise a few years ago. It just doesn't seem right, to me they're blue-collar US rockers :)

Acoustic Romeo and Juliette. Absolutely classic stuff.

Did love them and still do. God, I wish they would get together again.

John Ilsley ! Put down the ****ing paint brush and pick up your guitar again.

You know like, AC/DC replaced Brian Johnson with Axl Rose?

I heard Dire Straits are going out on tour, but with Chris Rea instead of Mark.

    They are calling themselves

    "Massive exploding sh1tebags."

    Wait..

    TOP DEFINITION
    Chris Straits
phrase taken from a combination of Chris Rea and Dire Straits meaning Dire Rea (diarrhea)
man: "ooh, I've got a touch of the Chris Straits this morning!"
girl: "Too much information thank you!"
man: "Like you've never had Chris Straits before?!"
girl: "Yes but I don't advertise when I have Chris Straits"
man: "No, but sometimes your Chris Straits advertises you!"

Chris Straits, never heard that one before. The joys of Google.

    Romeo and Juliet.

Jesus. I had forgotten that maudlin dirge. Down there with Wonderful Tonight as bad slow songs from 30 years back that teenage boys only liked cos teenage girls pretended to like them...
