    Hi lads,
Looking to see if anyone can help me please,

I've tried every insurance website and every one bar 1 refusing to quote ( Britton wanted 4400!).

I've rang about 10/15 with most saying I must be 30 years old before they'll insure me.

They will quote me a MK2 no problem but my heart is longing for the MK1.

If anyone can recommend a company that will insure me I would be extremely grateful, My hopes of buying one are slowly diminishing and I will opt for a MK2 instead.

    My details:
    23 year old Male
    4 years Full License
    4 Years NCB
    No points

Try Bank of Ireland website. It was one of the few that quoted our Mk 2 and it was competitive, underwritten by RSA who also underwrite 123.ie which is who we insured with currently (bit older than you though).

As a rant it is outrageous what is being allowed to happen in our insurance industry, we will all be corralled into buying new small rubbish cars on PCP as this will be the only cars they will insure!

Thanks I'll try them, Didn't think of the likes of Banks & companies like Tesco insurance being honest!

It is a shambles, before a no claims was a golden ticket to cheap insurance, now its worthless so it seems..

In the space of switching from a passat to a civic to a corolla my doubled from 700 to 1450 on my current policy, absolutely insane, the government must intervene soon surely?!

Ring Autoline in Coleraine, they will accept is as a classic car, go through the mileage limits options with them.

    I have a mk2 insured for 5000 miles at €325 per year.

Be prepared that in order for Autoline to quote for classic in ROI you must have another "regular" car insured for day to day use and any additional driver must also have their own private car insurance.

What sort of quotes are you getting for a MK2 ?
If they're even close to reasonable I'd go that way until you hit 25.
Once you reach 25 you can insure a MK1 on a classic policy (as a 2nd car).

I got a quote of 1400 without shopping around really so I expect closer to 1000 if I search hard enough..

Yeah I think Ill go with the MK2 for now, Still a great car, Thanks Lads.
