    Have to reset the laptop to scratch. Turns out an update was the cause of all this.

    Oh well, least laptop got a decluttering anyway....

    PITA this is. I don't know how anyone does this for a living, it's driving me up the walls and it's only been a few hours.

    Finally, its done. Thank Jaysus.

    So I tried to create a back-up/restore point and can't as system protection is turned off and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to turn it back on.....nothing is working.
