Computer Vs Attic - Fire risk?computer attic

Hi

I am running a Computer in my Attic for security and cabling issues and all is fine, however I am getting more concerned about the risks to the house of running this computer with regard to fire hazard. Currently the attic floored is insulated with fibre glass and there are a few floor panels down but not many. Attic also contains the usual junk.
Can anyone advise measures I can take to mitigate the fire risk other than removing from the attic altogether?

If the computer does go on fire you and the house are fcuked as there is zero fire protection in the attic.

But I know where you are coming from about keeping stuff out of sight.

I suggest you look at one of the micro PCs available. They are the size of an apple TV or some are the size of a usb memory key. Very low power consumption too. And you can hide one somewhere in the house, not in the attic.

P.S. so is it CCTV or porn....LOL!

Stick a smoke alarm in the attic at least.

Make sure the cooling system is de-fluffed, and fit it somewhere where ventilation won't be obstructed.

Attics get hot in the summer - I know people running servers in the attic who had to relocate them. Fanless low power devices are the answer. Check out Intels Compute Stick.

PCs don't often catch fire, but they do shut down if they get too hot.
