If I work 10-6pm with a paid 15 minute morning break and 1 hour unpaid lunch, and I book 4 hours off so I finish one day at 2pm - do I have to finish at 2pm or am I entitled to finish at 1pm due to my unpaid lunch hour?

You work (or get paid for) 7 hours on a work day. If you book 4 hours off, then you work 3 hours. Finish at 1pm.

I'm being told that on a half day like this I'm only entitled to a 30 minute lunch hence finishing at 1:30pm

On a 4-hour shift, you are not entitled to a lunch break.

But it wouldn't be a 4 hour shift. He/She is paid for 7 hours and has booked 4 hours off. So he/she should only work 3 hours. The lunch is immaterial IMO

So basically if the OP takes a full days holiday then technically he/she's not entitled to a lunch break so has to work 1 hour. That's what is being advised.

Eh what? If he's taking a full days holiday then he is taking seven hours leave.
His lunch break is irrelevant.

What he's asking is if he should have to work until 1:30.

If he's booked four hours off as opposed to a half day I'd day no.
If he's booked a half day, then that's three and a half working hours out of his seven so working 10 - 1:30 makes sense to me.

This depends simply on when your lunch break is in the day and if it is at a set time.

If your lunch break is at a set time of 1-2 PM or later, then you would finish at 1 PM.
If your lunch break is earlier than 1 PM, for example from 12-1 then you would finish at 2 PM.

Lunch hour alternates daily throughout the week - it's either 2pm or 3pm. The day in question would have been 3pm.
