Baird getting a nice run of the balls last couple of mins, ha feel if Selby can eek this out it could be massive in terms of the rest of the tournament

Not the best quality at the end of baird selby here. The jester would want to improve. Ebdon is a definite head wrecker on commentary. Views swinging too much this way and that, harsh on baird one frame, all excited about some fairly average shots by him the next.

Virgo is some pain in the ass to listen to.

Hard luck to Baird. His safety let him down big time. Great game.

Denis Taylor is the best commentator.

That was a gripping last frame, brilliant stuff. Saw it on Eurosport and the commentators were OK. Timed beautifully to finish up just as UFC starts too :)

They're changing the cushions on the tables because of the players complaining about the bounce.

The cushions on the table McManus and Carter played on were a joke.

I think that's the 4th or 5th time they've changed them on that table now in just over a week. Scandalous really for a WC. I don't see this happening regularly at other events throughout the season (watch a good few tournaments but admittedly not all of them so open to correction) over the last few years. Is this just a crucible issue or are they using different table manufacturers for the WC?

    100% mine :)

On the tables, while they're clearly not optimal the conditions are the same for all the players. They should focus on what they can control ie; their game. It's a cop-out for a top professional to keep blaming just the tables.

Still, fingers crossed the change reduces the bounces off the cushions.

They blamed temperature difference between the tables as the reason which seems pretty bizarre for it being so horrible to play on. Hopefully they have been able to resolve it over night as it seems like quite a ridiculous situation for the flagship event of the sport.

I'm having to watch the refreshing live scores on the BBC website to keep abreast of the scores on the tables today. I'm working :(

I love these frames where there is a safety exchange on the pink.

John Virgo. I think he's an awful prick. He was only ever an average player and he went out of his way to try and destroy Alex. He is also a very poor commentator. He is nearly always wrong with his shot calls. He rarely gets it right. He would be in the booth with Willie Thorne and Willie would call a shot and Virgo would disagree and would invariably be wrong. I think he is a tosser.

Just wondering what happened with him and Alex. I can't remember hearing anything. I don't think he is too impartial. I said on another thread, that he worships Ronnie, and whoever he is playing, even if they make a good shot, he just dismisses it.

It's his condescending tone I can't get over, even to his co-commentator.

Hope they have Dennis Taylor and Stephen Hendry on for the final.

Aye I noticed that too. He seems to think that he is the only one that is right. I think Hazel is great as a presenter by the way. Still miss David Vine though:-)
