Sorry for my ignorance but are these one in the same , if not which is better and what's the main airport into each?

There are so many islands in that region, all with their own airports and attractions. None is "better" per se.

I would avoid Jamaica for security reasons. I loved St Thomas and Puerto Rico but felt St Lucia was more of a them and us, which made me uncomfortable.

Also Cuba, Haiti, Dominican Rep,. The Caribbean is the general area, the Bahamas are a group of islands.
