Is it possible to use gps software via the media player on a vw Passat?

Car has no sat nav but does have media player interface. Wondering if a preloaded sd card would work, or does such an sd card exist?

I'm guessing no. That would require a navigation app. I doubt the media player can run apps.

If you have a smartphone, get HERE Maps and HERE Drive for it, they are free, and a windshield phone mounting arm.

Map data for the Sat Nav in my MK7 Golf is on an SD card.
Can't imagine it would do anything at all in a car without sat nav hardware (which on the Golf includes a GPS aerial).
