I set up an xtrend et8000 for a friend, some difference between that and the alien2. Can't wait until I get one for myself.

ET8000 is EOL (or stopped production for now). ET1000 is option now with transcoding or a Gigabyte Quad but they are more expensive.

Never used the LX3 but the LX2 is a fine box.

I understand that but I was able to source an ET8000 which is cheaper, doesn't really matter if it is EOL.

Not sure if you saw this but Satkondor have a LX3 with 4 tuners for €269.I think their postage is 20 euro.

It seems to be ex display model but comes with 2 year warranty.

Isn't that a massive bargain with the 4 tuners?

Have my ET10000 a few months now and I'm very happy with it. A very notable performance boost over the now aging Vu+ Duo.

lx with 4 sat tuners be ok if you had a motorised dish, dont forget about support like an image and check before you buy.

All this is in reference to you saying ' I can't wait to get one'. You won't be able to get a new one.

You were able to source, past tense.

I don't see how EOL doesn't matter because you can't get it from any of the major websites anywhere and won't anytime soon due to that that status at the minute...?

So apart from buying used ET8000 people will have to opt for a different brand or model for now.

Why are you being a knob jockey? If you must know, I meant an xtrend receiver in general. Oh and I must have bought the last et 8000 from satking.de because there is no more left in stock now :D

Thanks for all of your input guys. I've also came across a popular "modded" box here in Poland running enigma 2. Its a modified nc+ box nbox 5800sx. Its as cheap as chips here about 40euro!

Any idea where to get one of these for that 40E mark or less? Looking for something cheap for my son's bedroom.

I'm not. You posted you were going to get an ET8000(you mention nothing about 'xtrend in general' like you say now), I be helpful saying it's EOL so you won't be able to, you say EOL doesn't matter.

No big deal to me if you didn't get the post because you misunderstood - will stop clogging the thread now.

Look like they're here for €120 including HD which isn't that bad for a twin tuner.

If you wanted cheaper looks like you'd have to look around the Polish sites.

Also, from the translation it looks like it's running software called UBot so you might have some trouble keeping up to date with new releases or if you have any issues because you'd have to trawl through Polish support forums.

I dont think its worth the hassle with the Nbox unless you can get it from Poland and mod it yourself.
Better off going for something like the Edision OS for €124 ,its a good reliable box and there will be no hassle updating etc.Add a HDD for about €40 and you will have a really good set up for approx €170.

Is this a personal attack? Get a life pal.

I'm looking for something inexpensive, i like E2 but they're tend to be out of this price range. I was thinking of trying to get a 2nd hand blade or spiderbox which seem to be able to run some sort of epg and can be patched.

I dont think you will beat the Edision box at €124.Good box that is well supported. It must be the cheapest twin tuner E2 around without looking at Chinese sites.

The Golden Interstar LX2 for €120 delivered is worth considering too.

World of Satellite in the UK currently have the Technomate Nano 2 Super reduced to clear at £149 or ~187 euro plus delivery.
Similar spec to the Et8000 .

Thought here would be okay to ask a question on Openvix as many Enigma 2 owners are probably running it.

How often do you guys update it? I have Openvix 3.2 build 27 on a Zgemma (so I would need to flash rather than update).

From looking at the release thread I don't see anything exciting in 4.x so was thinking of re-flashing once a year maybe.

Cheers. I take it that I could backup my openvix image and give it to him?

I have a duo that hasn't been refreshed in about 3 years .I just couldn't be bothered when's it's doing all that's expected of it.Some people update every few months just personal preference really.

Openatv have images under Airdigital for your box just chosse your model and theres a thread on there forum with all the info needed.

3 yrs is a long time and wont have access to plugins now,but if your happy and its not broke yet then ok,newer images seem to be getting bigger and in time may not be doable:eek:.

might start doing mine every 6 months or sooner if image has issues.

Its in a bedroom and does whats expected of it without any problems so haven't bothered updating it.

    Hi Guys,

I'm looking for a box recommendation. I have an amiko alien 2 and it's decent, but I find it troublesome when it comes to recording and time shifting. I need to get a box for my sister. It will be in their sitting room getting heavy use, so I want something robust/powerful, but it doesn't have to be the absolute top of the range. She'll have two satellite feeds and likely one saorview. Something with a built in hard disk would probably be best.

    I'd appreciate your feedback.

    Thanks!

EDIT: I'd like to minimize the number of "support" calls I get from her going forward too :-)

You won't go wrong with the Technomate deal on WoS.Works out around €190 and then just add a HDD.
