Creaking Self Closing Door

    Hi all,

As with most apartments, ours is fit with self closing doors, of the Perko type:

Lately they've started creaking when closing, which is really annoying in a one bed apartment at night time. Tried a little 3-in-1 on the chain, but that hasn't helped. I was thinking I might need an oil that I could spray deeper into the mechanism/spring.

Any suggestions, or an experienced opinion that could help?

    Best,

WD-40 is precisely what you need, available in the pound shops and Lidl, probably Aldi as well. The 100ml can is a handy size but there's bigger ones as well .......

That'll work temporary for a more permanent fix I'd use silicone spray it doesn't dry out like wd40.

Don't use WD40. It is a penetrant, you need a lubricant. It will only rust it and make it worse over time. Silicone spray is probably best to get deep into chain.
