Is stepping down from newstalk, TV3 and his column in the papers. I have to say I do find him entertaining so I'll miss him on the radio. They stated personal reasons, so I hope he's ok. But there's a little voice in my head shouting 'Panama Papers'... We'll see :D

    That's a real shame. He's a great broadcaster.

Quite possible health reasons. That be my guess.

The banks are after his wife now so my guess is that they're heading for Wales and she's declaring bankruptcy.

Learn from the master on bankruptcy.

It may actually be a good option for some that are really in the dog house.

He's afraid of flying, has to stand while presenting the show because of his bad back. I don't think they are going to go too far.

Debts to AIB to be written off- that's more costs to the Irish Taxpayers

They were bailed out to be able to deal with bad debts so no more cost than already paid. I'd rather the money was used for that purpose rather than simply kept by the bank themselves.

They probably pay more tax between them than most people earn in fairness.

AFAIK they made a very reasonable offer to the banks but they refused and went for the full amount.

Him and Coleman bounced of each other well though it could be very staged at times.

Reading between the lines it sounds a lot more like health than panama papers, if it was the latter he wouldn't be waiting around for 2 months would he?

He offered AIB 92 cent in the euro repayment on his loans when the sh1t hit the fan

They screwed him to the wall and the taxpayer lost out again

    This is awkward.....
The former Fine Gael TD will be stepping back from public life and travelling with his wife, Deirdre, for a year.

If it were me reading between the lines, I'd be focusing on why they felt the need to mention he was going traveling with his recently made liable for debt wife, for a year.......

Not the first time this has happened with him. A slippery character, I find him condescending and obnoxious, but plenty here seem to enjoy his style of broadcasting. I personally won't miss him.
