I'd be stuck between paying or waiting I'll be covered insurance wise in 5 months so I'll prob wait although with my history my gp had said I could go 3-6 months of trying. Tough decisions.

Everyone had to do what they feel is right for them. My periods just got so painful all of a sudden so I knew something was up! Although it is hard to be heading to a fertility clinic I feel very much in control like there is a plan so at least that. Keeps me sane if nothing else!

You are dead right Ruaile Buile. That's the same cost I saw for Cork. Thinking of going down the same route. The 35th birthday is beckoning soon too which doesn't help thoughts in the head! Keeping telling myself to be positive!

Positivity is very important too, we need to keep our chins up. For us we just wanted to know early if we might be facing some problems - if not we can relax a bit more. I'm 33 so conscious of not letting too much time move on.

I'll be scouring my policy tomorrow if further investigations are required, I know I' not covered for maternity for the moment but not sure about gynae stuff

Do scour your policy as they love not to pay that were I need to be careful as mine will cover a lot so don't want to jepordise it.

I'd forgotten that. Mine says tests 6 months and treatments after 12 months. Cover wise!

We had SA done for myself aswell as blood tests,she had her bloods done inf day 3 and 21(might have days wrong) and everything has come back fine,

Have been referred to a Gyne in Kilkenny for next step,hit confirmation letter for end of May for a consultation which is €200 then I pressume we will be told from there what we must do and costs.

Hi all,
So we met the Dr this morning, OH got the all clear. I have polycystic ovaries but not necessarily PCOS so going to go to the GP for some other tests to investigate this further. I think it's common to have cysts but not necessarily PCOS so hoping that's all it is. Doc reiterated that we haven't been trying very long so still hopeful that it will happen naturally.

I have cysts but don't have pcos, very common. Great that you had all the tests and oh got the all clear. A plan is always great.

I've been lurking for a while on this thread, sorry I didn't post sooner as there is great comfort and advise to be had. I've been ttc since July. I don't appear to have any problems (pcos etc) and think I have my temping down to a fine art at this stage. I've lost over a stone and half since Nov and have a healthy BMI again. I happened to mention it to the doc last time I was in and he just told me to stay away from multi vitamins and keep taking folic acid. He also said come back to him in 2 years if nothing happens, I'm nearly 38 and that's just too long to wait. Anyhow, I was in with a different doc last week and he said I seem to be fine and prescribed me 5mg folic acid (to help increase my CM as its not always visible to me). Has anyone else ever been given this dosage for similar reasons? just can't figure out what else I can be doing in the meantime to help the process along.

Popsy, get yourself to a fertility clinic for a once over (and your partner too). I have found GPs pretty lacking and my own fairly serious issues were discovered by accident. At 38, you dont really have the luxury of two years to play with - especially if you are getting your timing right, you should look into it.

Also I have never before heard of folic acid having an effect on CM!

Never heard about folic acid increasing CM. But would recommend preseed if that is an issue for you! Best of luck

Yeah, I didn't realise that actually but seems very common. I have had bloods done in the past and they came back fine so don't think it's a problem. They were saying I could have a tube investigation if I wanted but we don't think there is any need for that just yet. It's good to have the peace of mind that nothing major has shown up.

Yeah I agree with fits, don't wait two years. I've never heard of anyone being prescribed folic acid but we use preseed too, definitely worth purchasing.

Hi, I wouldn't wait either. Sone gp's are clueless. I'd get a referral or just self refer to one if the fertility clinics.
Never heard of that for increasing cm, pressed or certain herbal treatments.

Went to the dr's all bloods taken, negative pt there too. Said she isn't concerned that I haven't had Af yet. Keep dtd every other day was her advice, take folic acid and a referral if nothing in 3 months.

Three months that's good that she's not fobbing you off for ages very proactive.

Yep as I'll be 5 months trying and with all the previous surgery. She's great she said there's no point delaying as I can just self refer anyway haha!

Just want to sound a note of caution. My GP told me my Day 3 bloods were fine, and they really really weren't.
Educate yourselves as much as possible.

Definitely fits, my bloods can't be day 3 as my cycle is all over the place. My friends day 3 bloods were so off but her gynea copped it so thankfully she's been treated correctly.

I got another peak on the opk this morning - same as last month, no high then straight to peak and really early in my cycle (9). I tried on of the cheapie strips that came with my thermometer and that was negative. I really wondering about the opk, or maybe something is going on with my cycle.

I spoke with the dr today about them she said she would always advise dtd every other day instead of opk. Or temping with it as different ones pick up different sensitivities.

Hi ladies,
Bit of advice please. God the scan report from MFC in the post today, says I have 22 follicles on one ovary and 20 on the other. I am going to go for bloods with the GP for further tests but just wondering if there is a chance that I am not ovulating. We used the CB OPK both this month and last and I only got a peak very early in my cycle (day 9/10) with no high days beforehand. This month I use the cheapo ovulation strips that came with the thermometer and they have been negative for the past few days. Tracking my temp (although I started late into the cycle) and according to FF I haven't ovulated yet so it recalibrated. I know PCO doesn't necessarily cause problems conceiving but I'm just wondering if my follicle count is high or average? I'm slightly worried the GP will just say keep trying for another 6 months but then maybe that's fine. I'm not good with uncertainty!!

ITs an excellent count! (edit dotn know if its high or not think its age dependant).

Good that you are temping but often its only apparent a few days afterwards that ovulation occurred. In similar position myself on CD 15, but its a very real possibility that I am having anovulatory cycles and that this is one of them. this is only my second cycle temping and it was really obvious last time.
